Now Washington will wait for Moscow’s response.

Today, in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, negotiations were held between delegations of Ukraine and the United States of America. During the meeting, representatives of the countries reached a number of important agreements. UNIAN has collected the main statements of both sides.
Cease-fire
According to the joint statement , Kyiv is ready to accept the US proposal and immediately introduce a 30-day ceasefire with the possibility of extension. The main condition is the acceptance and simultaneous implementation of the ceasefire by the Russian Federation.
Trump’s national security adviser Michael Waltz told reporters that the parties had discussed security guarantees and “substantial details of how this war will be finally ended” with the Americans. The US now plans to hold consultations with the Russian side , the G7 foreign ministers and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the “ball” was now in Russia’s court . He said there was no way to end the war militarily, and that before resorting to negotiations, they had to stop shooting at each other:
“And that’s what the president wanted to see, and that’s the commitment that we got from the Ukrainian side today – their willingness to do that. Obviously, that will now be conveyed to the Russians through multiple channels. And we hope that the Russians will say yes.”
Resumption of arms supplies to Ukraine
The meeting decided that the United States would immediately lift the pause in intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine.
Exchange of prisoners
During the talks, the delegations discussed the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of Ukrainian civilians, and the return of children forcibly displaced from Ukraine. Rubio later said that many issues, including humanitarian ones, would have to be resolved during the direct negotiations.
Fossil Agreement
The American and Ukrainian presidents have agreed to conclude a comprehensive agreement on the development of Ukraine’s critical mineral resources as soon as possible.
Negotiation process
Both sides must determine the composition of the negotiating teams and immediately begin negotiations to achieve a sustainable peace that will ensure Ukraine’s long-term security. Kyiv stressed that European partners must be involved in this process.
Statements by the Presidents
Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian side proposed at the meeting to introduce a ceasefire in the air and at sea, as well as to release prisoners. The US proposed a 30-day ceasefire along the entire front line. Ukraine agreed, so now the US must convince Russia to do the same. The “silence” regime will work if Moscow agrees to it:
“Ukraine is ready for peace. Russia must show its readiness to stop the war or continue the war. The time has come for the full truth. I thank everyone who helps Ukraine.”
Donald Trump said he hoped to achieve a full ceasefire in the coming days, and he also announced a conversation with Kremlin leader Putin and a meeting with Russian officials.
Negotiations in Saudi Arabia
Recall that yesterday, President Zelensky arrived in the country and met with the Kingdom’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. He later said that the Ukrainian delegation would remain there for negotiations.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak. It also included Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Deputy Chairman of the OP Pavlo Palisa.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of worsening relations between the countries. Recall that Trump recently suspended military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
