He harshly criticized the president for admiring Putin.

US President Donald Trump’s recent statements about Ukraine are misleading and indicate that he has no intention of engaging Kyiv in negotiations with Russia.

This was stated in an interview with ABC News by the United States Senator from Rhode Island, a member of the Democratic Party Jack Reed. He criticized both the strengthening of the alliance with the Russian Federation and Trump’s recent attacks on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky:

“This is essentially a capitulation by President Trump to the Russians. This is not a statesman or a diplomat. This is simply a man who admires Putin, does not believe in the struggle of the Ukrainians and seeks to suck up to the autocrat.”

According to Reed, to end the war it was necessary to convey to the Russians that Washington would take their actions in Ukraine very seriously. The United States also had to continue to put pressure on Moscow, and then negotiate with Kyiv. “And then, under that pressure, I hope Putin will decide that the cost is too high to continue these efforts,” he added.

  1. That’s good. However, by far, not enough US politicians are pushing back at Trump, whose rhetoric and actions are not in the interest of the United States, the free world, or Ukraine. Trump must be impeached before he causes more and worse damage to the country and to our friendships, and helps the fascist terrorist state of russia to win this war.
