The secret services monitored the billionaire’s personal and business contacts, as he had access to classified information about federal contracts.

The US Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security monitored foreigners who visited billionaire Elon Musk in 2022-2023, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing its own sources in government structures.

According to the publication, particular interest was aroused by individuals from Eastern Europe and other regions who could be trying to influence Musk, since he has access to classified information, in particular within the framework of government contracts with US national security agencies.

It is known that the investigation began during the Joe Biden administration. The process involved employees of several structures, including the FBI. The status of this case remains unknown to this day.

WSJ writes that intelligence agencies studied who attended events with Musk’s participation and filtered out foreign participants.

Musk had a fight with Trump

The former alliance between Donald Trump and Elon Musk has turned into a bitter conflict, expressed in mutual insults and threats. Musk has openly criticized the tax-spending bill (“One Big Beautiful Bill”).

In response, Trump called Musk ” crazy ” on social media and said he had “asked him to go,” while threatening to cancel subsidies and contracts to support his companies.

The conflict took on a particularly acute form when Musk not only accused Trump of hiding documents regarding Jeffrey Epstein, but also called for the president’s impeachment and considered the possibility of creating a new party to replace the current GOP.

In response, Trump threatened to massively cancel government contracts, while increasing pressure through legal and political methods.

As a result, the social media actions have damaged the reputation of Musk and his brands: Tesla shares have lost more than 14%, and the stock market has reacted massively to the escalation of the conflict. However, recent signals indicate a possible softening: Trump has said that he does not plan to talk to Musk yet, but does not rule out resuming dialogue, and Musk himself has hinted at reconciliation on social media.
