The United States is making its first investments in Ukraine’s strategic mineral resources, including uranium and rare earth metals, following the launch of the first project under the countries’ joint investment fund, UATV English reports.

According to Reuters, the U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund has signed its first critical minerals deal and reached agreements on four additional projects. The fund’s projects currently have a combined value of around $70 million.

“For the Ukrainian people, it is absolutely essential that we invest now. The fund’s total project volume is currently around $70 million and demonstrates Washington’s support for Kyiv during the prolonged war with Russia,” said Conor Coleman, chief investment officer at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation.

The investment fund was established under the minerals agreement signed by Ukraine and the United States in April 2025. The agreement provides a framework for joint investment in Ukraine’s critical mineral resources and projects supporting the country’s reconstruction.

The first projects mark the beginning of practical investment under the agreement, with further deals expected as the fund develops its portfolio.
