In October, supplies of just over 100,000 barrels per day are planned.
The agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin to supply Russian diesel fuel to American markets has not led to a decrease in prices. On the contrary, the cost of diesel has increased, writes The Wall Street Journal .

Thus, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA), on Wednesday the average price of a gallon of diesel fuel in the United States reached $6.35 per gallon (76.37 hryvnias per liter). At the same time, on October 9, when Trump announced the conclusion of this agreement, the price was $6.28 per gallon (75.53 hryvnias per liter).
Last week, a Russian tanker carrying more than 300,000 barrels of Russian diesel left the port of Primorsk. Initially reported to be headed to New York, the destination was changed to “on order” – indicating no confirmed port of discharge.
According to the WSJ, analysts are skeptical about the prospects of the deal and its impact on the diesel market. First of all, they believe that Russia may not deliver the promised volumes of diesel due to problems at refineries after the Ukrainian strikes and export restrictions.
Even if the deal goes through, the volumes will remain small compared to the global market deficit. Just over 100,000 barrels per day are planned for October, and around 125,000 are expected in November. In 2025, Russia exported about 800,000 barrels of diesel per day.
At the same time, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright previously explained that Washington sees the deal as a way to demonstrate to Moscow the economic benefits of ending the war against Ukraine.
