The US Army plans to actively integrate ground robotic complexes (GRCs) to perform logistics missions and evacuate the wounded, drawing on the experience of Ukraine, Defense News reports   , citing the SAM platform’s online procurement system.

As noted in the material, the Pentagon has already announced the start of commercial projects, setting a short deadline for submitting applications – until April 28.

According to information from the source, the reason for this rush was the changing nature of the war, where the usual supply methods no longer work.

The US military has explicitly stated that frontline movements have become extremely dangerous due to the saturation of drones. According to military experts, this “calls into question the ability of commanders to replenish units and evacuate the wounded” by traditional means.

According to available data, the new robots should perform two key tasks:

  • Delivery of cargo for the infantry rifle platoon and company headquarters.
  • Evacuation of the wounded (at least two people at a time) to assembly points.

Among the technical requirements for the NRC are high cross-country ability, the ability to quickly reconfigure, and the option to operate completely autonomously. At the same time, as the material says, the Americans are striving to make these complexes mass-produced, although previously the West often made mistakes by creating too expensive “single” copies.

It is worth noting that despite its own developments, the US is forced to rely on Ukrainian experience. As Defense Express notes, in March 2026 alone, the Armed Forces of Ukraine completed over 9,000 missions using robots.

“It is the Ukrainian experience that demonstrates important conceptual points regarding the use of IRCs on the battlefield and proves their critical need,” the media outlet emphasizes.

Upgrade

UNIAN previously wrote that the DevDroid company has modernized Ukrainian combat robots . Now they work on the principle of a smartphone: any error in the code is corrected “over the air” in a matter of minutes, even when the equipment is in the midst of battle.

“We can update it remotely, add new features, and fix bugs,” said Oleg Fedoryshyn, the company’s R&D director.
