A few weeks ago, Washington decided to keep her in office, despite the change of US president.

US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink intends to resign after criticism from Volodymyr Zelensky, CBS News reports , citing three sources. 

There has been no official statement of resignation to date, but sources say Brink has already begun saying goodbye to her colleagues. 

According to one senior American official, her resignation was caused by an “unusual combination” of personal and political problems, including Donald Trump’s decision to dismantle the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

As Brink told CBS News, under internal U.S. protocols, Kyiv is designated as an “unaccompanied post,” meaning American diplomats are prohibited from bringing their families with them, as is customary. As such, Brink has long been living far from his family.

It is also reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio intended to keep Brink as ambassador to Ukraine and rejected her first resignation letter, which all American ambassadors formally submit after a change of US president.
