A native of Dnipro broke the record set 37 years ago. Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh set a new world record in women’s high jump.

This happened during a performance at the Diamond League stage in Paris. Maguchikh cleared 2.10 meters on her first attempt. Consequently, the Ukrainian broke Stefka Kostadinova’s record of 2.09 meters, set in 1987.

Maguchikh won gold, becoming the only one to clear 2.03m in the sector. In addition, the Ukrainian broke her own record – 2.07m on her second attempt.

Now Jaroslava is the number one female high jumper in the world, followed by Stefka Kostadinova with 2.09 m (1987), Kajsa Berqvist with 2.08 m (2006) and Blanka Vlasic with 2.08 (2009).

Other victories of Yaroslava Mahuchikh

In June, Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh won gold at the European Championships in Rome. In the final, the Dnipro native cleared a height of 2.01 meters .

She reached this mark only on her second attempt. However, this allowed Maguchikh to “jump over” Serbian Angelina Topic in the final protocol. And another Ukrainian, Irina Gerashchenko, won the “bronze”.
