The main problem is that no one seems to know what Trump will do when he returns to power.

Europe is rushing to prepare for Donald Trump’s likely return to the White House , Politico reports .
The reporters interviewed more than 50 diplomats, lawmakers, experts and political strategists in NATO and other countries, many of whom spoke on condition of anonymity.
Joe Biden’s disastrous performance in the televised debates has cemented the conviction among US allies that they will have to deal with a new administration in the White House next year.
In general, NATO countries’ strategy for interaction with Trump’s America will be built on three main pillars:
- extensive personal contacts with Trump and his advisers in the hope of minimizing harm to Western civilization;
- partial fulfillment of certain Trump demands regarding European defense spending;
- developing “creative diplomatic and legal measures” to protect NATO priorities from the Trump administration.
However, there are certain difficulties in implementing this strategy.
Trumpism as a synonym for chaos
“Of course, the biggest problem is that we don’t know – and I don’t think anyone knows exactly – what he will do,” said one diplomat from a NATO country.
Right now in America, many right-wing politicians and pundits are announcing certain strategies, claiming to speak on behalf of Trump, or that they have discussed them with Trump. But the unofficial European diplomacy still has problems understanding which of these people really represent Trump, and who is just using him for PR. And this complicates the process of reaching Trump himself.
“One lesson American allies learned from the first Trump administration is that personal relationships with the former president and those closest to him are paramount,” Politico writes.
During his presidency, Trump enjoyed warm relationships with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. According to Politico, each used this direct personal connection to his advantage.
In recent weeks, several diplomats from NATO member states have quietly traveled to Washington to meet with conservative academics and people associated with think tanks they believe could have some influence on Trump’s policies. The meetings appeared productive, one ambassador said. But there was an air of casualness about them.
“We don’t know whether the people we meet will actually stay there if Trump is elected president,” one NATO official said.
Save Ukraine from Trump
A separate problem is Trump’s attitude towards the Russian-Ukrainian war and his desire to leave Ukraine without military support.
Until now, the United States has been the main driver of military aid to Ukraine. At a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels in mid-June, the alliance members tentatively agreed on a plan to hand over control of support for Ukraine to a specially created headquarters within NATO itself. In theory, that would make the administration of the aid “Trump-proof,” as some diplomats put it. A final decision is expected at the NATO summit in Washington.
If implemented, the plan would gradually hand over control of the aid to a group of 200 NATO soldiers in the Belgian city of Mons – a group that would continue to work with the United States but under the NATO flag.
“But it’s unclear how much these formal agreements would actually constrain Trump if he were to assume the presidency,” Politico writes.

“no one seems to know what Trump will do when he returns to power.”
Actually we do. He’s been talking about partition since at least 2014. He intends to reward genocide. He wants to give Ukrainian land to one of the most vile creatures that ever lived.
And : he’s almost solely responsible for the pro-putler editorial output of magaputler house mags gateway pundit and breitbart.
I think it was Don Jr. that had me banned from Breitbart.
Actually, we don’t…
Need proof?
“…problems understanding which of these people really represent Trump, and who is just using him for PR.”
Anyone that understands politics can understand this but those with hateful dispositions are blinded by it.
We don’t know for sure what trumpkov would do if returned to power, but based on his past statements and demonstrated hatred of Ukraine, it’s nothing to look forward to.
you are the last person on this planet to say others are blind.
Republicans call Trump’s move to distance himself from Project 2025 ‘preposterous’
Donald Trump’s “preposterous” efforts to disavow Project 2025, a rightwing blueprint for a radical takeover of the US government if the former president is re-elected in November, have been derided by former Republican figures.
[…]
“I think what this is telling us is that Donald Trump knows that what is written in this plan is so extreme that it is damaging to his possibility of getting elected, and that’s what he’s concerned about.”
“Exactly how do you ‘disagree’ with something you ‘know nothing about’ or ‘have no idea’ who is behind, saying or doing the thing you disagree with?” said former RNC Chairman and current MSNBC host Michael Steele in echoing Troye’s derision.

The GOP better have a plan B ready because Trump may well be barred from the presidency for his unofficial act of inciting an insurrection. Pence will testify against him in September.
Don’t worry, the courts will help you with your confusion.
I’m only confused by your post. You sound like a MAGA.
Make America Great Again? Sounds good to me. I suppose ruzzians would have a problem with that, but that’s your problem.
Make Accountability Great Again
“Mission to Save NATO”?
Its very “easy”:
1. Every non US Nato member immediately increase military spending for at least 5 to 7 years to a level that supports a serious military capacity and adequately address the decades of underspending. Two percent of national gdp a minimum starting level within 6 months. . Once 2% is met, then raised to 2.5 % the next fiscal year. Once 2.5% is met, then 3% the next fiscal year which then becomes the absolute minimum military funding level to be a member of Nato. Three percent is still much less than the US spends.
2. If a country refuses to allocate adequate military spending as defined in #1, then that country has made its decision to UNILATERALLY withdraw from Nato.
If they drag their feet in leaving, then Article 5 protection from the members in good standing is no longer available to the free loaders.
3. Every non US Nato member who was not spending 2% of their gdp on defense PRIOR to the invasion of Ukraine must publicly acknowledge and apologize to the US taxpayers for not paying their fair share of the military burden for decades.
None of this will ever happen because the vast majority of non US Nato countries and the European elites believe that it is their divine right for the US taxpayers to provide free military defense forever to Europe.
An alliance is an alliance in reality only if all parties are bearing their fair share of the full military burden. If only one of 32 countries is paying for more than 2/3 of the west’s military spending for over 35 years that is NOT an alliance. That is a welfare program where the US is getting screwed.
If Nato refuses to change, then it is inevitable that Nato will become informally or formally defunct. The the end of Nato would be a boon to Russia, but it is not Trump who will end it. What will end it will be the other members refusal to admit their greed and lack of serious commitment to a fair and equitable alliance.
