Ukrainian drones halted the work of one of the largest petrochemical plants in Russia, – Reuters

One of Russia’s largest petrochemical complexes, Salavat, stopped operations on Tuesday after being attacked by Ukrainian drones, Reuters reports , citing industry sources.

The local governor confirmed the attack, but noted that “the complex will return to normal production within a few days.” At the same time, the agency’s sources noted that repairs could take several weeks or even months.

It is noted that both primary processing plants were damaged and stopped, and some secondary processing plants and other equipment were also damaged.

These are the CDU-6 crude oil distillation unit with a capacity of 17,140 tons per day and the CDU-4, which is capable of processing 11,430 tons of oil and gas condensate per day.

The enterprise in Salavat produces gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene and other petroleum products, as well as liquefied gases, butyl alcohols, polyethylene, polystyrene and ammonia.

According to industry sources, the plant processed 7.2 million tons of oil in 2024, which was about 2.7% of the total processing volume in Russia. During the same period, the company produced 2.5 million tons of diesel fuel, 1.5 million tons of gasoline and 700,000 tons of fuel oil.
