On the night of November 20, suicide drones struck again at the Ryazan oil refinery. The attack resulted in a series of explosions on the company’s premises.
A fire broke out after a UAV raid on the refinery, according to monitoring Telegram channels.
Consequences of the attack on the refinery
Eyewitnesses from Ryazan complained that a series of powerful explosions thundered over the city at night. In addition, local residents confirmed on social networks that the fire started directly on the territory of the refinery.
NASA satellite images also captured a fire at the refinery. In particular, a fire was recorded from space at one of the refinery’s units.
Locals counted more than 10 explosions. Eyewitnesses also reported seeing a large fire near the refinery. Ryazan Region Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed the attack on the plant.
The official claims that falling debris caused a fire at one enterprise. He also added that debris fell in several areas of Ryazan.

What is known about the Ryazan Refinery?
The Ryazan Oil Refinery is one of the key facilities in the Russian oil refining industry. The declared maximum design capacity of oil refining is about 17-18 million tons per year. The actual refining volume in 2024 was about 13.1 million tons of crude oil (approximately 4.9% of the total refining volume in Russia).
The enterprise produces a wide range of petroleum products, including automotive gasolines (A-92/95/98/100), diesel fuel, jet fuel (aviation kerosene TS-1) , fuel oil, liquefied gases and other products.
Ryazan Refinery is one of the largest fuel producers in Russia and an important element in the logistical supply chain of petroleum products. The impact of Ryazan Refinery on the Russian military-industrial complex and the army is primarily due to the production of aviation kerosene and diesel fuel. The plant produces an average of about 840 thousand tons of aviation kerosene TS-1 per year, which is a significant share (about 8.4%) of the total volume of its production in Russia.
The defeat or shutdown of such a large enterprise involved in supplying troops significantly limits the Russian army’s capabilities in conducting combat operations, complicating logistical support and creating a fuel shortage on the domestic market.

Recall that the Ryazan Refinery, owned by Rosneft, stopped oil refining after an attack by Ukrainian drones on the night of November 15. The enterprise stopped work immediately after a fire broke out at one of the production facilities.
As OBOZ.UA wrote, according to Reuters, the Saratov refinery stopped working after attacks by Ukrainian drones. As a result of the attack on November 11, it suspended primary oil processing. Work may remain paralyzed until the end of the month.

It seems that the Ukrainians will make sure to get this refinery off-line permanently. God speed!
