Vladyslav Polskyi, an assault company commander with Ukraine’s Code 9.2 Regiment, rescued two wounded soldiers from Russian fire at the last moment, the Joint Forces Group said on Aug. 16.

Two soldiers from the 475th Separate Assault Regiment Code 9.2 were returning from a mission when they were struck by Russian Molniya drones. Both were seriously wounded and unable to move on their own.

An unmanned ground vehicle was sent to evacuate them, but it was also hit by an enemy drone. The soldiers, both suffering from open leg fractures, were left exposed in the open.

Without waiting for orders and without even putting on body armor, Vladyslav Polskyi set out on his own to rescue his fellow soldiers. Risking his life, he reached the damaged unmanned ground vehicle, picked up the wounded soldiers and brought them to shelter.

The commander of the 475th Separate Assault Regiment Code 9.2, call sign Flint, said the soldiers would have been killed within minutes by another Russian drone strike if Polskyi had not arrived.
