Ukrainian Armed Forces drones attacked 15 Russian regions

On the night of Saturday, July 5, fifteen Russian regions were subjected to a massive attack by Ukrainian drones. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense. According to the department, during the night, Russian air defense forces shot down 94 unmanned aerial vehicles over the territories of the Voronezh, Bryansk, Belgorod, Saratov, Novgorod, Kursk, Leningrad, Oryol, Rostov, Smolensk, Ryazan, Moscow, Penza, Tula regions, as well as over the Chuvash Republic.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in turn, announced a successful strike on the Borisoglebsk military airfield in the Voronezh region. According to the Ukrainian side, Russian Su-34, Su-35S and Su-30SM fighters are stationed at this facility. According to the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the strike hit a warehouse with guided aerial bombs, as well as a training and combat aircraft and, presumably, other air targets. The extent of the damage is being clarified.

The head of Chuvashia, Oleg Nikolaev , reported that one of the drones fell on the roof of an “empty building” of JSC VNIIR, whose operations had been suspended since the previous attack in June. The second drone, according to him, damaged a warehouse building under construction on Lapsarsky Proezd. Nikolaev emphasized that no one was hurt in the incident.

Saratov Region Governor Roman Busargin reported damage to residential buildings in Engels and Saratov as a result of a drone attack. He clarified on his Telegram channel that, according to preliminary data, there are no casualties and all emergency services are working on the scene.

Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg has twice imposed temporary flight restrictions due to security concerns, delaying more than 50 flights. According to the airport’s press service, the restrictions were in effect from 23:15 Moscow time on July 4. Passengers were provided with water and food while waiting. Rosaviatsiya spokesman Artem Korenyako said the airport is currently operating normally.
