Rubio called it “unacceptable to Putin.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made it clear at the G20 summit that Ukraine’s accession to NATO is impossible in the short term, writes Radio Liberty journalist Alex Raufoglou.

According to Rubio, the main obstacle is the position of Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“According to Western officials, during a private conversation, Rubio also raised the issue of Ukraine’s possible accession to NATO, calling it – in their words – unrealistic in the short term and unacceptable to Putin,” Raufoglu writes.

The US Secretary of State also warned that Russia’s capture of the entire Donbas would not satisfy the Kremlin’s territorial ambitions.

“This will not satisfy Russia’s appetites,” he told European representatives.

Rubio also expressed doubts about Putin’s participation in the summit scheduled for December in Miami, in a conversation with Western diplomats.

  1. The longer Rubio is in this administration, the dumber he gets. I think he’s on his way down to Taco’s level, where Hegseth, Kushner, Witless, and others already are.
