Here’s why:
Ukraine is sitting on $15 trillion worth of mineral resources, including rare earths, white hydrogen and shale gas.**
Ukraine’s allies are allowing themselves to be totally outplayed by a murderous imperialist dictator with blatant nazi predilections, who is backed by a squalid consortium of antipathetic (to the west) dictators. These criminals have unfortunately proved themselves to be more reliable than Ukraine’s capricious allies, who seem more concerned with protecting russian troops than Ukrainian troops and civilians.
Putin is absolutely determined to crush and subjugate Ukraine. He doesn’t care if it costs him five million of his orcs and continues for another decade of horror. Such matters are immaterial to a clinical psychopath. He won’t run out of cannon fodder; he has an inexhaustible supply that can be topped up with foreign cutthroats, including potentially hordes of North Koreans and all sorts of other garbage. it is even claimed that Chinese mercenaries have entered Putin’s war.

Even if Ukraine gets everything it needs; which is approximately five times what it gets now, plus unlimited, unrestricted long range fires and c. 200 F16’s, it could still take more than one year to drive the occupiers out.
There will be no meaningful negotiations because Putin believes he’s winning. The Kursk operation could even fail without an enormous new influx of men and materiel.
Possibly President Zelensky and his commanders thought that the brilliance of Kursk would inspire the allies to step up to the plate. Shamefully, the opposite in fact has happened.
And now the russian dictator’s favourite useful idiot Trump has joined in the “you’re going to have WW3” kremprop mantra.

We have a massive. SNAFU situation.
Nato is determined to keep Ukraine out by prevaricating indefinitely. Individual members harbour closet Putin supporters and even open russia sympathizers.
Who are they? Hungary and Slovakia. Turkey swings both ways.
Now we learn that Ukraine’s ally Poland will block Ukraine’s EU membership for highly contentious reasons.

The EU gives Ukraine a fraction of what it should give relative to its wealth and the Budapest signatories continue to refuse to honour their obligations, as usual.
The same Budapest signatories were not afraid to take decisive action in the case of Putin prototype Saddam Hussein.
America knows how to win wars. It failed in Vietnam because the will was no longer there. In the second Gulf War, they did not impose any restrictions on themselves. They went for overwhelming force :
Enormous air power, sea-launched cruise missiles and a ground force of 500,000, supplemented by 50,000 British ground troops.
All this to defeat a piss-ass dictator with a sixth of the population and wealth of russia.
Those who believe it was wrong to topple Saddam must have forgotten the rape rooms, the torture rooms and the gassing of the Kurds. Mustard gas was deployed.

Yet Ukraine is forced to deal with Putin’s genocide machine alone. It is so horribly unfair. It’s unbelievable really; yet it’s actually happening.
Appealing to common decency clearly doesn’t work either. So how about greed? Ukraine has $15 trillion of mineral resources.
Does any senior politician in the west; even Trump, who has spent the last decade doffing his cap to Putin and sneering at Ukraine, want all that to go to a murderous, expansionist fascist power?
How about a generous percentage of the exploitation rights being offered to any country that commits to the complete restoration of Ukraine’s borders by military force?
Ukraine needs another ten divisions of combat troops; like yesterday.
