Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban claims that Brussels is forcing Budapest to “accept Ukraine’s membership in the European Union.” 

He wrote about this on the X platform,  Censor.NET reports .

In his opinion, European Union leaders are preparing for the continuation of the war in Ukraine and hope that its entry into the bloc will help Kyiv emerge victorious in the fight against Russia.  

However, according to him, such plans would be destructive for both Ukraine and the EU itself.

“Apparently, the countries of Europe are preparing for a continuation of the war. They say that Ukraine can win the war and membership in the European Union will help it achieve this goal. This is the worst of all possible ideas. Ukraine will not be able to win this war,” Orban said on the program of the Hungarian Kossuth radio station.

The head of the Hungarian government confirmed that Budapest opposes the hasty admission of Ukraine to the European Union, as this would create serious risks in the areas of security, economy, and public order.

“Our belief, and mine personally, is that Ukraine’s accession will destroy Hungary and destroy Hungarian families. It will nullify the economic results we have achieved over the last 15 years,” Orban believes.

“We will not let Brussels force us to accept Ukraine’s membership in the EU. This is a huge issue that has far-reaching consequences for our security, economy and agriculture. We will ask the Hungarian people and act as they decide!” the politician added.
