Ukraine needs leader who can engage with both US and Russia, says US president’s adviser

2 March 2025

US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz has stated that the United States needs a Ukrainian leader capable of engaging with them as well as with Russia to end the war.

Source: Waltz on CNN, as reported by European Pravda

Details: Waltz was responding to a question about whether Trump wants Zelenskyy to step down.

Quote: “We need a leader that can deal with us, eventually deal with the Russians and end this war.

And if it becomes apparent that President Zelenskyy’s either personal motivations or political motivations are divergent from ending the fighting in this country, then I think we have a real issue on our hands.”

More details: Waltz said that the Ukrainian leader must make it clear “publicly and privately” that he is “ready to go to peace”.

Background:

  • US House Speaker Mike Johnson also stated on Sunday, 2 March that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must “come to his senses and come back to the table in gratitude, or someone else needs to lead the country to do that”.
  • Earlier, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz shared his version of events in the White House following the public dispute between Trump, JD Vance and Zelenskyy.
  • On Friday, 28 February, an altercation took place in the Oval Office between the Presidents of Ukraine and the US, as well as Vice President JD Vance.
  • Trump, among other things, accused Zelenskyy of “gambling with World War III”.
  • European leaders and EU officials publicly expressed their support for Ukraine following the clash between Zelenskyy and Trump in the Oval Office.

  1. This deplorable administration is once again barking up the wrong tree. What is needed is a dead putler and a big broom to sweep out the garbage that has accumulated in the White House since the end of January. The ones who are grossly incompetent and dangerous to our country are Trump and his collection of useful idiots that have no governmental or diplomatic talents whatsoever. Grade school kids could do a better job than them.

  2. Fuck off Waltz. Another putler-rimmer.
It’s clear from the WH shitshow that kremlin west is acting on putler’s orders and trying to pressure Zel out.
The horrible fact is that the bastards may succeed.

      • What do I know? Nothing. However I’ll repeat my earlier comment to F1 :

“It is being claimed that a mic picked up Zel saying “suka blyat” under his breath to VanZkov.
The plan was exactly that : to get him to lose his cool.
Obviously trumputler wants him out. The gossip is that that Zel may indeed step down if he thinks it’s better for his country. He should not do so IMHO.
But he could hand over to someone that he trusts for the duration of the war and then run again for president afterwards.
But that may be a long way ahead.”

        • “It is being claimed that a mic picked up Zel saying “suka blyat” under his breath to VanZkov.”

Has anyone heard that first-hand? I’ve seen some comments saying that the original source was Pravda russia.

          • No, I haven’t heard him say that. It was difficult to hear anything that Zelensky said while the orange snake and his ass giver Vance were ranting.

        • It would be a mistake to step down. Even if the orange criminal says the US aid depends on it, he’s not to be trusted. Zelensky is a powerful force, and right now, more than ever, after what happened in the WH. The Ukrainian people and especially the soldiers know this, and it gives them a huge moral boost. This is worth as much as the few weapons that the orange bastard would be willing to send, if at all.
          My very humble opinion.

  3. What the US needs is a leader that can who can engage with Ukraine and not just mafia land. Pressurising an innocent guy over a genocidal war criminal is a desperate act of cowardism.

    • The bad thing is that the hardcore maga morons still don’t see it that way. The good thing is that everyone else does, even many Trump voters who’ve been woken up to smell the coffee.

      • The wheels seem to be falling off. Even Texans are pissed off with all this DOGE crap. If Texans are angry, the rest of the US must be in uproar.

    • “What the US needs is a leader that can who can engage with Ukraine and not just mafia land.”

Also one who can stand up to putler.
