According to one of the officials, it will take Ukraine only a few weeks to get the first bomb.

Today in Brussels, during the meeting of the EU Council, Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukraine’s security can be ensured either by membership in NATO or nuclear weapons . And, as BILD correspondent Julian Röpke writes, this statement by Zelensky was a “blow” and “shock” for Western journalists.

At the same time, according to Ryopke, the authorities of Ukraine are seriously considering the possibility of restoring the stockpile of nuclear weapons.

Thus, he refers to the statement of a high-ranking Ukrainian official, according to whom Ukraine will not accept a second attack by Russian troops on Kyiv, and in this case, the Ukrainian nuclear arsenal will be restored, which the country voluntarily gave up in the 1990s during the signing of the Budapest Memorandum.

“We have the materials, we have the knowledge. If there is an order, it will take us just a few weeks to get the first bomb,” the official warned.

He also stated that the West should “think less about Russia’s red lines and much more about our red lines.”

  1. Between relying on nukes or NATO, Ukraine’s best bet is to rely on nukes.
NATO has proven to be extremely wobbly and unreliable. Remember, NATO refuses to protect its OWN airspace from russian attack drones and missiles. And, NATO’s strength will deteriorate even more if the orange felon wins the election.

    • IMO if Ukraine was in NATO and declared article 5, they probably wouldn’t get any better response than those that would team up with Ukraine if they reinstituted their nuclear programs.
After constant nuclear threats by the rabid Moskali…go for it!

  2. I knew that this news would please a number of people here.

Zelensky warned the Munich Security Conference in February 2022—days before the war erupted—that if consultations with signatories did not result in concrete security guarantees, Ukraine would consider the Budapest Memorandum invalid.
