Ukraine Downs 3 Su-34 Fighter-Bombers in a Day, russia Lost 11 Such Aircraft in February

The latest Su-34 aircraft downing brings the total to 11 for February, alongside other russian losses

The Ukrainian Air Force successfully neutralized another russian Su-34 fighter-bomber, as reported by the Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.

“On this unique date of February 29, which only comes around every four years, it seems to have become daily routine for russians to suffer the loss of another aircraft. Minus one Su-34 aircraft on the Eastern front,” Mykola Oleshchuk

The spokesperson for the Air Force Command Colonel Yuriy Ignat stressed that the losses are occurring at a considerable distance. Although the exact range won’t be disclosed, it’s substantial enough to compel russian pilots to exercise greater caution, keeping them at a safer distance.

“Moreover, to extend the range of guided aviation bombs, russian pilots are compelled to fly closer to the target, as these bombs glide without their own propulsion. Consequently, they lose velocity during flight. Hence, to reach distant targets with these bombs, russian pilots must take greater risks, which inevitably leads to situations like today’s,” he further noted.

    • Yeah, send more planes, Putin! Russian pilots, this is your chance to make it into the Guinness Book of Records! 😁

  1. Sensing an opportunity, the Russian air force is flying more sorties, closer to the front line, lobbing glide-bombs to suppress Ukrainian troops. “The enemy has overcome the fear of using aviation directly over the battlefield,” the Ukrainian Center for Defense Strategies explained, “and although this results in the loss of aircraft, their ground forces gain a significant firepower advantage.”

      • At 3 per day, that reserve wouldn’t even last for a year. Apart from that, it seems there’s less than 100 SU-34s left and a large share of those 750 planes aren’t suitable for bombing missions (try that with an Il-20 or An-26, for instance). And what shall be left to fight a Chinese invasion if Putin wastes his jet fighters now? 😁
