Ukraine will unilaterally observe a “regime of silence” starting at 00:00 on the night of May 5 to May 6. This proactive peace initiative underscores Kyiv’s commitment to securing a long-term, reliable cessation of hostilities rather than settling for temporary, symbolic pauses.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy clarified that despite claims on Russian social media, Kyiv has received no official requests regarding ceasefire modalities.
Zelenskyy stated that there has been no official communication addressed to Ukraine concerning the methods of ending hostilities mentioned in Russian social media. He noted that human life is a much greater value than the celebration of any anniversary.
The president reported that the ceasefire will begin at midnight on May 5. He mentioned that it is realistic to ensure that the silence takes effect by that time.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine will act reciprocally in a mirror fashion starting from that specific moment.
He stated that it is time for Russian leaders to take real steps to end their war, especially if the Russian Ministry of Defense believes it cannot hold a parade in Moscow without the goodwill of Ukraine.

A genocidal missile strike on Kyiv is constantly being prepped up after each last one.
Air defences just can’t stop all of it. That is Ukraine’s weakness. I doubt if Nato member cities are any better protected though.
