On the night of May 12, the Ukrainian kamikaze drone AN-196 “Lyuty” 
attacked one of the largest chemical plants in southern Russia – the Kamensky plant in the Rostov region. The drone fell on the plant’s territory at about five in the morning.

SHOT reports that the drone was allegedly suppressed by electronic warfare systems, and there were no casualties or serious damage.

It is worth noting that the Kamensky plant is not just a plant, but a city-sized enterprise for Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, producing important chemical products.

“Lyuty” is a long-range kamikaze drone developed at the beginning of the full-scale war as a response to Russian attacks using “Shaheds”. After the initial use of Turkish Bayraktar TB2, the Ukrainian Armed Forces began actively creating their own drones. The first combat uses of “Lyuty” were recorded in 2023, and since then it has been regularly used to destroy military and industrial facilities deep in the russian rear.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, in Rylsk, Kursk Oblast, Russians complained about a missile strike that destroyed a hotel at the entrance to the city. According to preliminary information, the building housed the headquarters of one of the Russian units.

The Russian Federation stated that Ukraine launched 447 long-range drones and missiles at Russia in the evening and at night, which allegedly became the “most massive attack” on the aggressor country. Mobile Internet was disconnected in more than 30 Russian cities due to the threat of drone attacks.

The aggressor country’s military-industrial complex facilities were hit, with several hits reported, including the Optofiber Systems plant in Saransk in Mordovia, as well as the Kubinka and Shaikovka airfields near Moscow.
