On the night of July 17, explosions were heard in temporarily occupied Crimea. In Kerch, fires broke out near the railway station.
The occupiers’ warehouses caught fire, and the Kerch oil depot, trains on the tracks, and an electrical substation could also have been hit. Details of the attack are reported by the Telegram channels “Krymsky veter” and Exilenova+.
What is known about the consequences of the attack on Kerch?
According to reports from local residents, powerful explosions were heard in Kerch almost all night.
At 01:15, “Krymsky Veter” reported a hit near the city’s railway station. After that, a large fire broke out there.
A few hours later, it became known that “numerous fire outbreaks” had occurred on the territory of the railway station.

“Warehouses and, probably, the Kerch oil depot and trains on the tracks are burning. Nearby is a powerful electrical substation of the Kerch substation 110/35/6 kV,” Crimean Wind reported at 05:37.

Exilenova+ also wrote that the night attack on Kerch did not go without consequences for the occupiers.
” Drone attacks and explosions were reported in Kerch all night. NASA FIRMS recorded a fire near the Kerch railway station,” the message published at 05:22 said.

As OBOZ.UA reported, The Economist noted that Ukrainian strikes are turning Crimea into Russia’s “Achilles heel. “
The destruction of bridges, oil depots, airfields, and transport infrastructure makes it difficult for the occupation groups to supply supplies, and the isolation of the peninsula could become an important trump card for Kyiv in future negotiations, journalists believe.
Notably, of the 692 Ukrainian strikes on Crimea since the start of the full-scale invasion, more than half have been carried out in the past 12 months. Almost one in five attacks occurred in the period after June of this year alone.
