Most Americans expect the war itself to begin in the coming years.

Most US citizens expect World War III to break out within the next ten years. In their opinion, Ukraine will be among America’s allies. This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey conducted by the international platform YouGov .

“Most Americans believe that another world war is at least somewhat likely to happen within the next five to ten years, but most do not think they would volunteer to serve in military or non-combat roles if the US were involved,” they report. authors of the study.

Thus, when asked whether they expect a world war to break out in the next 10 years, 61% of Americans answered in the affirmative: 22% called this possibility very likely, 39% said it was quite likely. 22% of respondents do not believe in the imminent outbreak of war: 17% called this scenario not very likely, and 5% – completely incredible. It is noteworthy that Republican Party supporters believe more in the imminent outbreak of war than Democratic supporters.

At the same time, 77% of Americans surveyed believe that the United States will participate in a new world war if it really starts. Also, 72% expect Russia to enter the war – and on the opposite side from the United States. 69% of respondents think the same about China. Among potential enemies of the United States in this war, Americans most often also mentioned Iran (67%), North Korea (65%) and Iraq (57%).

In the list of potential US allies, Americans mentioned Ukraine as one of the first – 58% of respondents. Only Great Britain has more votes – 67%. Americans also consider Israel (58%), France (57%), Germany (54%), Australia (51%) and other countries to be a possible US ally.

The overwhelming majority of Americans surveyed believe that the United States, together with its allies, will be able to defeat any hostile coalition – Russia with its allies (53% believe in a US victory versus 11% who believe in a Russian victory), China and its allies (48% versus 11% ), China and Russia together with their allies (45% versus 12%).

It is significant that the respondents themselves are not too eager to participate in the war. Only 6% said they would volunteer for such a war. Another 9% would go to war if they were called up. 13% already admit that they will avoid going to the front. The rest selected options such as “not sure” and “I don’t think the armed forces will need me because of my age or disability.”

Threat of World War III

As UNIAN wrote, the United States can accelerate the start of a world war if it isolates itself and ignores the actions of regional aggressors. It was according to this scenario that the Second World War began, which the United States could have stopped, but withdrew at the beginning.

Meanwhile, analysts warn that the West is categorically not ready for a full-scale war of attrition, as in Ukraine. The problem is both a flawed military doctrine focused on fast-paced maneuver warfare and an unprepared industrial base to produce large numbers of weapons.

  1. Given what has been going on over the last 30 years in the US military, I am not at all sanguine about the US winning. between the feminization, wokesters, and the lowering of standards, no one wants to go in, and the first line people, the supposed “professionals” are not going to be able to hold the line.

    • Have you been smoking Fox News?
The army is not woke, I would say join the military and you will see it is still quite tough.
      Also for women serving.
The army has never been a joke and it still isn’t, unlike some people in the media want you to believe.

I also think it is really disrespectful towards those that are serving.
