General Syrskyi Speaks about Army Reform: Will bring victory closer

March 24, 2024 – By OFP

On the Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Syrskyi spoke about the countries military reforms and how they will make the military more effective and efficient and thus will help bring it closer to victory.

Below, the general’s full statement from the staff’s FB page, translated by the AFU:

Головнокомандувач ЗС України / CinC AF of Ukraine Colonel General Alexander Sirsky:

According to the decisions made, the optimization of the military organizational structures that directly participate in the imprint of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation continues.

Over the decade of war, the provisional military authorities and the troop group areas of responsibility formed and changed according to the operational environment and current challenges.

Currently, taking into account the experience of combat, organizational measures are being carried out. The main goal of these measures is to simplify and maximize the quality and efficiency of the management.

Some troop (force) groupings will be reformatted. First of all, it is about the management personnel potential, its competent and rational distribution.

One of my priorities is to improve the rotation process of combat crews.

In particular, some military units have been involved in repelling the armed aggression of the Russian Federation since the first days of the full-scale invasion.

In addition, it is important to pay more attention to resting our soldiers, upgrading of weapons and military equipment, and the restoration of the brigades in general.

This process has already been launched and in the future it will only grow.

Strengthening the defensive capabilities to further crush the enemy and bring victory closer.

  1. It’s never easy to reform a large organization, as a military usually is. Yet still, the AFU has done a lot to move away from its old Soviet era inefficiencies and corruption, although many of its negative aspects still linger. The more Ukraine’s military copies the best from the West and trashes its SU legacies, the better it is for the country and for each soldier, sailor, and airman. And, the worse it’ll be for the cockroaches from mafia land.

  2. A reasonable rotation process for all combat troops requires significantly more troops. Thus, it depends on the passing of the mobilization bill in Verkhovna Rada. Without the lawmakers finally doing their damn job, Syrsky will remain as short on soldiers as Zaluzhnyi had been. That’s more of a political problem than a military one. 🤨

    • Sure, Mr. Gray, but I’ll leave it up to the Ukrainians to decide on what is best to be done.
I think you Germans have a saying that would fit. The soup is never eaten as hot as it’s cooked.
