Zelenskyy stated that the United States supports Europe in this initiative.

Ukraine, European countries and the United States have agreed to begin a full and unconditional ceasefire starting Monday, May 12. It should last at least 30 days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a press conference following a meeting with the “Coalition of the Willing.”

“We together demand this from Russia. We know that the United States of America supports us in this. An unconditional ceasefire means – without any conditions. An attempt to put forward any conditions is evidence of the intention to drag out the war and disrupt diplomacy. The ceasefire must be comprehensive – in the air, at sea and on land,” the head of state said.

In addition, he emphasized that in coordination with the US, it is quite possible to ensure monitoring of the ceasefire. According to Zelensky, a 30-day ceasefire will give diplomacy a real chance.

“During this time, the work will be focused on defining the security, political, and humanitarian foundations of peace. We welcome the fact that the demand for a ceasefire and a transition to meaningful diplomacy is supported by everyone. Not only by European countries, but also by the United States, which was the first to propose it,” the President of Ukraine noted.

French President Emmanuel Macron, for his part, said that while the US should play the main role in monitoring, all partners would participate.

“In the event of a violation, we have agreed to impose large-scale sanctions against Russia. This issue will be prepared and coordinated by the Americans and Europeans,” Macron stressed.

  1. No demands are needed. Zelensky should just announce there will be a 30 day ceasefire from Monday, any violations and mafia land get sanctioned to hell. Just leave it at that.
