Another batch of international technical assistance from Great Britain to the Armed Forces of Ukraine has arrived in Ukraine.

As stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine , Great Britain provided our country with new light anti-tank weapons.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration Anatoly Petrenko noted that these weapons will strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine.

“I want to emphasize that this assistance will be used exclusively for defensive purposes, to protect our troops, to protect critical infrastructure and to protect the civilian population from any manifestation of any actions that could lead to an escalation,” Petrenko said.

According to Censor.NET  , citing sources, the UK handed over NLAW anti-tank grenade launchers to Ukraine. They are considered the best grenade launchers for combat in the city. Such grenade launchers have no analogues in Russia.

READ ALSOStoltenberg spoke about the “disagreement” in NATO on the supply of weapons to UkraineNLAW has a set of advantages. It is also called the “Javelin for short distances”. The grenade launcher hits the target using fire-and-forget technology. The operator looks into the Trijicon TA41 NLAW 2.5×20 computerized sight, marks the target and presses the trigger. All calculations and the flight path of the grenade launcher programs itself. The sight is optical, there is no laser rangefinder, and the grenade launcher’s radiation detection system will not detect it.

The NLAW weighs 12.5 kg and can be moved quickly.

The grenade launcher has two modes of hitting a target. To defeat tanks, you can use the attack mode from above. In this case, the rocket will fly at a height of one meter above the target, the charge will detonate and hit the tank from above. The warhead is capable of penetrating 500 mm of armor.

And to defeat lightly armored targets or the walls of a building, a direct attack mode is used. And then the warhead will detonate instantly during contact.

The shelf life of NLAW is 20 years. The grenade launcher does not require routine maintenance.

Recall that the attention of the media was attracted by  the strange route of British aircraft  with weapons for Ukraine. Journalist Kyle Glen asked on Twitter why the two C-17s chose the route through Denmark and Poland, and not the direct route through Germany.

Then the expert suggested that Berlin could not let planes with weapons for Ukraine because of its policy on the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Defense Minister Ben Wallace said yesterday that London would transfer  anti-tank weapons to Ukraine without waiting for a Russian attack.

  1. That’s great! The more, the merrier!
    Next, send anti-aircraft missiles.
What is the sleepy administration doing in the meantime?
