Poland has imposed restrictions until December 9, and Latvia – only until September 18.
Poland has restricted flights in the eastern part of the country – along the borders with Belarus and Ukraine – for three months, RMF 24 reports, citing the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.
It is noted that the restrictions were introduced “for national security reasons” for the period from 10:00 PM on September 10 to 11:59 PM on December 9.

The department emphasized that in the specified part of the country there is a complete ban on flights from sunset to sunrise, with the exception of military aircraft. In addition, flights of civilian unmanned aerial vehicles are prohibited 24 hours a day.
The message also states that, after coordination with the operational service of the Air Operations Center, flights of state aviation and medical aviation may be permitted, as well as flights performed to provide assistance in cases of threat to the life or health of people or animals, “in particular, during natural disasters, catastrophes, environmental threats or emergencies.”Read also:
In addition, flights related to the protection and control of critical infrastructure may also be permitted.
Following Poland, Latvia will also close the skies over the border with the Russian Federation and Belarus from 6 p.m. on September 11 for at least one week, as announced by the country’s Defense Minister Andris Spruds.
“Russian UAVs in NATO airspace are a warning signal, and we must do everything possible to prevent the escalation of drone attacks. Closing Latvia’s airspace will allow for full control of the restricted airspace and will facilitate the detection of unauthorized aircraft, freeing up the restricted airspace for fighters of the NATO Baltic Air Patrol Mission and our air defense,” said Defense Minister Andris Spruds.
