Two bulk carriers will deliver 150,000 tons of coal from the United States for the operation of Ukrainian thermal power plants

DTEK Energoholding has agreed with HC Trading (Heidelberg Cement Group) to supply Ukraine with two shipments of American thermal coal.

The total volume of two deliveries is 150 thousand tons. The coal is expected to be delivered to Ukraine by two shipments: the first in December 2021 and the second in January 2022.

It is noted that this will be the company’s second contract to import coal from the United States. The first contract for the supply of 75 thousand tons of American thermal coal was signed with another supplier in late August this year.

The new batches of fuel are intended for the needs, first of all, of DTEK Energo’s Zaporizhzhya and Ladyzhyn TPPs.

“We were the first in Ukraine to start premature fuel imports from Poland, Kazakhstan and the United States,” said DTEK Energo CEO Ildar Saleev.
