The adviser to the President of Turkey was also told about the situation in the occupied Crimea.

Turkey supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, and also emphasizes on all platforms that the return of captured territories, including Crimea , is a requirement of international law. This was stated by the chief adviser to the President of Turkey, Yalcin Topcu, during a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Nariman Dzhelal, Ukrinform reports . 

“Turkey, which supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, also advocates on all platforms that the return of the occupied territories, including Crimea, is a requirement of international law. Turkey wants the ongoing occupation and war in Ukraine, Gaza and Lebanon to end, and firmly advocates for it on all international platforms, contributes to ensuring permanent peace in our region and the world for the future of all humanity,” Erdoğan’s adviser emphasized. 

At the same time, Dzhelal told Topch about the events and situation in the occupied Crimea, the persecution and oppression against the Crimean Tatars, human rights violations and crimes committed by Russia on the peninsula. 

“Ukrinform” reminded that such a trip of Dzhelal to Turkey was the first after his release from Russian captivity. 

“Searches and arrests occur constantly. Detainees are sentenced to long terms of imprisonment, where they are in unsatisfactory, inhumane conditions… There were cases when political prisoners over 60 years of age were brought to court in an unsatisfactory state of health,” – Jelal remarked. 

The participants of the meeting also hope that Turkey will facilitate the release of Crimean Tatars who are in Russian captivity, as well as prisoners of war and civilian Ukrainians. 

“In addition to the release of political prisoners, we are also talking about our prisoners of war, about civilians who are in the harshest conditions because they defended their homeland at the front, for their position. Here, the combination of efforts of both the state and civil society is very important. In Ukraine, public organizations are doing a lot to protect the rights of Ukrainian citizens,” Denis Zolotaryov, counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Turkey, said at the meeting.
