The Ukrainian president shared a few more thoughts about working with Trump.
There is not a single leader in the world today who could make a deal with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin without Ukraine’s participation in the process, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said . He thanked US President Donald Trump and other American leaders for their “support”.
And he noted that Trump “instills fear in Putin” and this is what could lead to “substantial” peace negotiations.

“[Putin] doesn’t want peace. But I think he’s actually a little bit afraid of President Trump. And I think the president has this chance, he’s strong, and I think he can really push Putin to peace talks,” Zelensky emphasized in an interview with NBC News . And he called on Trump to approach the issue of negotiations with the Russian occupiers while remaining loyal to Ukraine. After all, according to him, it will be “very difficult” for our country to survive without American military assistance.
The Ukrainian president also added that his trust in the partnership with the US is “being tested”:
“I would very much like Ukraine to be a priority for Trump, not Russia. And I hope that we are more important. We are not as big as Russia, but I think strategically Ukraine is more important for the United States, because we are truly partners, allies and share common values.”
Asked whether he believed Trump was negotiating sincerely, Zelensky said he hoped and counted on it. The Ukrainian president reiterated that Putin is a “killer” and will never change.

Very, very naive.
It would be very, very naive if President Zelenskyy actually believed that. But I think it a lot more likely that he’s saying things that appeal to the malignant narcissist because that’s what’s necessary to get his help. Both Zelenskyy and putler are “working” trumpkov.
Indeed, the orange braggart doesn’t act for the sake of compassion or righteousness, but what’s best for himself.
On Face the Nation, Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) said: “There is absolutely no way that Donald Trump will be seen—he will not let himself go down in history as having sold out to Putin. He will not let that happen.”
Sarah Longwell of The Bulwark said: “I guess Republicans think this is how they manipulate Trump into doing the right thing. But Trump’s been selling out to Putin since Helsinki when he publicly sided with Putin over America’s intelligence community. And he hasn’t stopped selling out since. And the [Republican Party] lets him.”
