The charter of the new international institution grants Donald Trump veto power, controls the agenda, and can chair the council even after his presidential term ends.

The so-called ” Peace Council ” will have a global scope, but will effectively be under the complete control of a single individual. According to the draft charter sent to capitals in recent weeks, Donald Trump has been appointed as the council’s first and key chairman, The New York Times reports.

Article 3.2 of the charter explicitly states that Trump will have the right to veto all decisions, set the agenda, invite new members, be able to completely dissolve the council and appoint his successor.

Several countries have already expressed their support for the initiative. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, one of Trump’s closest allies in Europe, confirmed Budapest’s participation, writing on Facebook: “If Trump, then peace.” Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel, Belarus, Pakistan, and several other countries have also announced their participation.

UN competitor

At the same time, the initiative has drawn sharp criticism from international experts. Cambridge University professor of international law Mark Weller called the project a direct attack on the United Nations. He said, “It looks like an attempt to reshape the world order to suit one man and his vision.”

The Trump administration, introducing the Peace Council last week, stated that it would address not only the Gaza conflict but a broader range of crises. The charter states that the council’s purpose is “to ensure lasting peace in regions affected by or threatened by conflict,” effectively duplicating the UN’s mandate to maintain international peace and security.

Trump’s peace envoy, Steve Witkoff, said the council should become a platform for “exchanging views” on conflict resolution, particularly in Ukraine, Russia, Iran, Sudan, and Syria.

Trump himself acknowledged that the initiative effectively replaces existing international mechanisms. He stated:

“I wish the United Nations could do more. I wish we didn’t need a Peace Council.”

The draft charter also provides for a $1 billion entry fee for countries seeking to remain council members for more than three years. Washington assures that the funds will be under “supreme financial control.”

It is specifically noted that Donald Trump may remain Chairman of the Peace Council even after his presidential term ends—effectively indefinitely, “until he resigns.” At the same time, the next US president will have the right to appoint the country’s representative to this structure.

  1. 👀 Orbán reacts to Zelensky criticism in Davos, says Hungary will not support Ukraine’s military efforts

“Dear President Zelensky, I don’t think we will reach an agreement. I am a free person serving the Hungarian people. You, on the other hand, are in a deadlock and for the fourth year cannot—or do not want to—end the war, even though the President of the United States has provided all possible support,” said the Hungarian Prime Minister.

Orbán emphasized that Hungary will not participate in Ukraine’s military efforts, but will continue supplying electricity, fuel, and helping refugees.

“Life will decide everything else, and everyone will get what they deserve,” he added.

  2. “I wish the United Nations could do more. I wish we didn’t need a Peace Council.”

A coalition of the world’s scumbag countries will solve even less than the UN. The last time such a coalition was made, we had Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and Hirohito. We all know how that ended up.

  3. This is simply another private boys club, no US law has sanctioned it, and never will. Its a joke.
