Donald Trump said he wants an agreement between Zelenskyy and Putin by winter. He did not specify whether Ukraine would receive Patriot licenses.
US President Donald Trump wants Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin to find a compromise. Trump said this while speaking with journalists, UNN reports.
Details
“I want Zelenskyy to reach an agreement with Putin, and I want Putin to reach an agreement with him,” – the US president said.
Trump said that Ukraine and Russia could reach an agreement before the start of winter
“I hope that someday, perhaps in the near future, or maybe even before the onset of a harsh winter, they will reach an agreement,” – the US president said.
At the same time, Trump did not answer whether Ukraine would receive licenses to produce Patriot missiles. One of the journalists asked Donald Trump whether he had spoken with Volodymyr Zelenskyy about Patriot missiles.
“I reached agreements with Zelenskyy on many different topics, and on many of these issues we have very broad agreement. But you know what I want from him? I want him to reach an agreement,” – Trump said, evading a direct answer.
According to him, 25,000 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in August, 32,000 in July, and 33,000 in June. Trump called this a “disgrace.”

Stop the war! But based on a fair compromise, not Ukrainians being pulled over the table!
“I want Zelenskyy to reach an agreement with Putin, and I want Putin to reach an agreement with him”
President Zelenskyy agrees to stop attacking ruSSia if ruSSia pulls their troops out of Ukrainian territory.
Now go convince the aggressor to agree.
Define Ukrainian territory. Crimea was never Ukrainian, it was turkish until the war with ruSSia – in which the ruSSians conquered the formerly ottoman peninsula and populated it with ethnic ruSSians. Even after Ukraine’s independence the peninsula remained an autonomous Republic, predominantly inhabited by ruSSians and turks (tatars). Crimea was the root of this mess from the very beginning and the war may not end until ruSSia becomes the legal owner again. 🍻
BTW, i do not support Serbia’s claim on Kosovo eitherl. Serbia has no right to control a former autonomous province predominantly populated by non-serbs who wish to be independent.
Ukrainian territory is the land area controlled by Ukraine as a Soviet Republic during the SU and after the disintegration of the SU in 1991, agreed upon by the russian state and confirmed by the UN. Like it or not, this includes the Crimea.
Against the will of the majority of the people who live there? You sound like a yankee, not a Texan. 😁
We also believe in democracy, Mikey. 😉
“Define Ukrainian territory.”
Here’s putler saying “Crimea is not a disputed territory” and “Russia recognized the current borders of today’s Ukraine a long time ago”:
“an autonomous Republic”
The Autonomous Republic of Crimea is a de jure administrative division of Ukraine.

“Crimea was the root of this mess from the very beginning”
No, the root of this mess is putler’s desire to rebuild the USSR.
“until ruSSia becomes the legal owner again.”
It’s been Ukrainian since 1954 – first under the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, and then under the newly independent Ukraine following the breakup of the USSR. And you’d have to go back to before the Russian Revolution to see Crimea as part of the Russian Empire as opposed to being part of the USSR.

Trump rejects Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz
President Trump on Saturday rejected Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week if the U.S. meets certain conditions.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House on Saturday before leaving for a college football game, Trump said Iran wants an agreement because they’re “losing so badly.”
“They want to make a deal and I think that’s fine,” Trump said. “I’d like to make a deal, too. But that deal would not be acceptable.”
Trump posted an image early Saturday morning on his social media platform of the Strait of Hormuz labeled “Trump Strait,” in the first public indication of his thinking after Iran proposed the new deal and suggested it might help Trump ahead of the midterm elections.
Iran’s president and foreign minister visited New York for the United Nations gathering of world leaders and proposed a deal with the Trump administration that would end the fighting and open the Strait of Hormuz within a week.
That’s if the U.S. ends its military blockade of Iranian ports, releases frozen Iranian assets and waives sanctions on Iranian oil sales, among other conditions — none of them new.
What’s different after past failed attempts is the speedier timeline. Iran’s pitch to Trump said a quick deal might help him in the midterm elections in November.
First indirect talks in months
The U.S. said its envoys and the Iranians held three hours of indirect talks via mediators Tuesday, their first since the countries’ previous agreement to end the fighting and launch nuclear talks collapsed within days of its signing in June.
The latest talks were good and the U.S. was open to more, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday. But Trump used his speech to the U.N. gathering on Tuesday to threaten to “annihilate” the Islamic Republic. In his own speech a day later, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran would fight “until our last breath.”
In the final seconds of his speech, however, Pezeshkian said Tehran remained open to diplomacy.
Behind closed doors, a new proposal
In a private gathering Thursday on the sidelines of the U.N. meeting, Iran’s top diplomat described Tehran’s new proposal to the U.S. It offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume talks on its nuclear program in seven days if the U.S. lifts its naval blockade of Iranian ports, waives sanctions on Iranian oil sales and observes a ceasefire that would include Lebanon.
The conditions largely echo the ones agreed to in the June deal that fell apart. At stake are the biggest sources of frustration for both sides.
Opening the Strait of Hormuz, over which Iran asserted control after being attacked by the U.S. and Israel in late February, would ease global markets and relieve some pressure on the U.S. military, which has been guiding commercial ships through the waterway at risk of Iranian attack.
Lifting the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, as well as waiving sanctions on oil sales, would allow Tehran to ship out more of its crude and help its battered economy as its currency hits record lows and inflation soars.
Iran makes another push before heading home
In a sign of Tehran’s apparent sense of urgency, Pezeshkian hosted the prime minister of Qatar, the mediator in the indirect talks, early Friday before much of New York rolled out of bed.
“The choice now rests with the United States,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told journalists Friday evening.
The White House has said U.S. officials were having positive and constructive conversations with mediators.
Tehran has spent long weeks in discussions with Oman, on the other side of the strait, on how to manage shipping traffic. Its new rush for a deal with Washington, analysts said, reflects its eye on the midterms. Trump might decide an agreement has political benefits. But his rejection Saturday risks a return to fighting that would drive oil prices higher.
“Washington may believe that time is on its side: Maintain pressure through November, avoid another major military escalation before the midterms, and reassess afterward. Tehran may reach precisely the opposite conclusion,” Danny Citrinowicz, a senior researcher at Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies, said on X on Saturday.
Trump has said he’s in no rush for a deal as the U.S. strains Iran’s economy with sanctions. The White House had yet to expand on his “Trump Strait” social media post overnight.
As for Iran, there was no immediate sign its top diplomat had left New York. At home, Iran’s security forces have warned they still have targets left to strike.
