Former American President Donald Trump on Feb. 14 said the U.S. should provide funding to Ukraine as loans, which Kyiv would be expected to pay back.

As the Republican Party’s most likely nominee for the upcoming 2024 presidential election, Trump’s increasing influence over the party thwarted previous attempts to pass additional funding for Ukraine.

The Senate passed the $95 billion funding request, including assistance for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, earlier this week. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he would not put it to a vote in the lower chamber, as Trump is fueling opposition against the bill among Republicans.

Johnson argued that the proposal needs to include provisions on southern border security, even though he and Trump helped kill an earlier proposal that included similar measures.

“They want to give them $60 billion more,” Trump said in North Charleston as he continues to campaign during the presidential primaries.

“Do it this way. Loan them the money. If they can make it, they pay us back. If they can’t make it, they don’t have to pay us back.”

“Why should you just hand it over to them? Do it as the form of a loan,” he added.

The ex-president has long criticized the U.S. aid to Ukraine, a position in line with his “America First” foreign policy views. He has claimed that he would be able to negotiate peace in Ukraine within 24 hours, although he did not elaborate on concrete steps to achieve this.

Trump also raised concerns among NATO allies when he said he would encourage Russia to do “whatever the hell it wants” to members who do not meet the 2% defense spending mark.

  1. If I had any doubts of Trump being a fuckin moron , all doubt has been removed. Following WW2 we, The United States of America lent billions to the European countries. DID THE US GET PAID BACK THE LOANS…NO, not a nickel. Instead those loans became the basis of all the freakin worldwide conglomerates that were formed and produced enormous wealth for the United Stares America. The fuckin moron doesn’t understand the money is being put in the US defense industry which is producing wealth. Sorry Red I’ve confirmed that he is a moron.

  2. You’re wrong about no European country repaying loans. The UK paid back every cent to the US, the last payment was paid back in 2006. The Soviet Union repaid $674 million out of $11 billion. The remainder was written off.

    • Sir Foccusser I won’t dispute your facts. My point, the money being put in by the US is creating wealth in the US. Trump puts out $3 trillion dollars in debt just as the pandemic occurred which still hasn’t been reconciled. Everyday we hear how corruption ate into that money. . Now he’s fuckin worried about 60 billion? Bullshit.

    • And it only took us so long to repay those loans because the US charged an obscene amount of interest.

  3. by the way the only reason Trump is coming out with this crap is that he knows he lost this fight so he’s trying to make it look like it was his approval that got it done. FUCK him and the horse he rode in on

  4. From an accounting and ethical point of view, this proposal is unacceptable.

    1. The Ukrainian economy is extremely weakened. the reconstruction alone will cost nearly 500 billion (02.2024)! Nothing says that the frozen assets will ultimately be transferred to Ukraine for this purpose. Currently, the state manages to finance basic defense expenses (salaries, logistics, etc.), but the weapons are mainly delivered by the allies. Asking Ukraine to go into debt of more than 100 billion is economically irrational and technically impossible.

    2. It is shameful to ask Ukrainians to pay to defend American interests in Europe, to defend the free world from which the American economy fully benefits, to fight against one of the worst global threats and above all to defend their own acquired freedom by a treaty of which the United States is a co-signatory.

This proposal is a spit in the face of Ukrainians.

There won’t be enough embers in hell to burn this fucking orange bastard.

  5. So Trump has been reminded that Americans (Except for his MAGA worshipers) don’t like Russia in general and Putin in particular.
His Putin bromance, NATO bashing and shite talking Ukraine has hurt his and the GOPs image. So much so that the Republicans lost a seat in the House. and only have a 6 seat majority. That and the Senate are swing their support back to Ukraine and telling the Trumpsters to go fuck themselves.
    Respectfully of course.
