The US Secretary of State noted that transferring nuclear weapons to Ukraine is not a solution to the problem.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s claims that the country needs nuclear weapons to defend itself against Russian aggression if the NATO accession process drags on for years or decades are not serious, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told  Breitbart News in an interview , answering a journalist’s questions.

“I don’t think anyone considers this a serious proposal from them (Ukraine – UNIAN), and I don’t think that equipping them with nuclear weapons is a solution to the problem,” he said.

Rubio said he had not heard Zelensky directly demand nuclear weapons for Ukraine unless it joined NATO, but he stressed that he would not support such a move.

“I don’t think that’s a realistic demand. We need fewer countries with nuclear weapons, not more – and I don’t think that’s going to solve their problem as they see it. I think he has a fundamental problem, and that’s fine: how do you get to an end to a conflict that’s durable, that’s going to last, that’s not going to lead to another war in a year, two years, three years? That’s going to have to be the issue in any negotiation. But I don’t think nuclear weapons are the answer to that,” the US Secretary of State added.

Rubio also said the U.S. and Russia have opportunities to work together. In a conversation with a journalist, he noted that Washington wants to discuss frozen Russian assets, the opening of embassies, and the future of American companies that suffered after leaving the Russian market.

“This will be part of a broader conversation about how to reset our relationship,” the US secretary of state said.

  1. 😠😤🤬
If we’re not willing to let Ukraine in NATO, and unwilling to give nukes then we must assist in their reproduction of a Nuclear Deterrent.
