US President Donald Trump, during talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, March 18, must dissuade him from some “absurd demands,” including the seizure and demilitarization of all of Ukraine or plans to seize more of its territories. This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski after a meeting of EU foreign ministers, writes Wnp.pl .

Sikorski said in Brussels that he wished Trump success during his phone call with Putin and expressed hope that the US president would be able to persuade the Russian dictator to drop his “absurd demands”.

Regarding Trump’s previous promise to end the war in 24 hours, the Polish Foreign Minister noted “we knew it wouldn’t be that easy.”

At the same time, the minister added that he wishes the US President success in negotiations with the Russian dictator and hopes that Trump will be able to convince Putin to abandon some of his absurd demands, in particular the desire to take control of all of Ukraine or the demilitarization of Ukraine, as well as plans to seize additional Ukrainian territories in the future.

“We will measure the success of Trump’s negotiations by the quality of the peace achieved,” Sikorski said.

The politician added that peace talks would be a test for Russia. He recalled that Ukraine had agreed to a temporary 30-day ceasefire, while Russia was putting forward conditions, which showed that it wanted neither peace nor peace talks.

“We clearly understand who wants peace and who wants war. Russia will want to seize all of Ukraine by other means, and ideally – neutralize half of Europe by military means. This will not succeed, but this does not mean that Putin will not try,” Sikorsky said.

Trump-Putin’s upcoming call: What Ukraine knows, adding that he believes there is a “very good chance” of that happening.
