Trump lashes out after US-Russia prisoner swap: What happened

He recalled that during his presidency he had returned many prisoners.

Former US President and 2024 White House candidate Donald Trump has criticized the US-Russia prisoner swap, suspecting that it involved money for Moscow.

“So when are they going to release details of the prisoner swap with Russia? How many people are we getting in the swap? Are we paying them cash? Are they giving us cash (please remove this question because I’m sure the answer is no)? Are we releasing murderers, hitmen or bandits? Just curious because we never make good deals, on anything, but especially on hostage swaps. Our “negotiators” always embarrass us,” he wrote on his social network Truth Social .

He also recalled that during his presidency he returned many prisoners, but never paid for it.

“I have returned many hostages and have given the enemy nothing – and never any money. Doing so sets a bad precedent for the future. It has to be that way, or it will get worse and worse. They are extorting money from the United States of America. They call the exchange ‘complicated’ so that no one can understand how bad it is,” Trump added.

It is worth noting that National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that there was no exchange of money or sanctions relief as part of the deal.

Prisoner exchange between the US and Russia

On Thursday, August 1, 2024, a large-scale prisoner exchange between Russia and a number of Western countries took place in Turkey. It is known that, in addition to the Russian Federation and the United States, Germany, Poland, Slovenia and Norway also took part in the exchange.

A total of 26 people were exchanged. It was reported that the “Tiergarten killer” Vadim Krasikov, detained in 2019 after a contract killing in the German capital, Anna and Artem Dultsev, convicted of espionage, and a number of other people convicted in the West would return to Russia.

In turn, Moscow released 16 people: political prisoners (including politicians Ilya Yashin, Vladimir Kara-Murza, Alexei Navalny’s campaign staff member Liliya Chanysheva, Open Russia chairman Andrei Pivovarov, artist Alexandra Skolichenko), as well as Wall Street Journal journalist Evan Gershkovich, Radio Liberty Tatar-Bashkir Service journalist Alsu Kurmanasheva, former Marine Paul Whelan, and German citizen Patrick Schebel.

  1. There is only one person in the world perfect as God, let me guess………………………………………..

    • Vance says his boss is “responsible” for this exchange, the orange baboon contradicts him by concocting crazy ransom theories???

Can they be more cacaphonous and further disqualify themselves from higher office? Impossible.

Every week, they accumulate lies and contradictions. I’m sure the vast majority of Americans will realize this in time and put these idiots in their place.

  2. Sounds like Trump is angry that mafia land might’ve got money for this swap. Why? Mafia land is his beloved paradise, so I thought.
There should be no prisoner swaps with mafia land. We should not make deals with terrorists. If people can’t help it to be in mafia land and risk being kidnapped by the fascist regime, it’s their problem.

  3. Biden just had Putin’s FSB killer/hitman, Krasikov, released from a German prison after being issued a life sentence for murder in Germany. German’s not happy

Putin will turn him lose on Ukrainian travelling dignitary’s, no doubt. omg

    This ls crazy

    • Ukrainian traveling dignitaries will be as safe or a little safer with Krasikov released.

Krasikov is a known killer and can easily be recognized and monitored.

The same people who trained Krasikov can surely train others as well. Unknown assailants that Putin sends would be a bigger risk.

Don’t pretend Krasikov is Russia’s only killer. Maybe he is the only one you know, but it doesn’t stop there. Get real…

      • l think you missed the boat. The German’s knew about him before too, as well as Interpol, however, he still completed his mission, did he not?

  4. Hi Bohuslav. Thanks for telling us what you and the other MAGA are saying over at Breitbart.

  5. A reporter asked President Biden on Thursday about Trump previously saying he would have gotten hostages out without giving anything in exchange.

“Why didn’t he do it when he was president?” Biden replied.

      • President Biden was spot on. That’s just another lie from “Don the con”. trumpkov says he could have done it, and yet he had 4 years and failed to do so.

And I don’t see your point about “German investigators displeased” – are you suggesting that President Biden got Krasikov out via a prison break? If not, then the German government must have agreed to release him.

    • Why didn’t Biden do it when he came to office or, ln 2020? Biden left Whelan in prison in Russia ln 2022, did he not?

Whelan was held since 2018. ln 2020 Whelan was convicted, then started serving a 16year sentence for alleged espionage. So why did Biden pass him over for Griner, who was only arrested ln 2020 for drugs, and had a lessor sentence?

Not only was Whelan a Marine, who was given a longer sentence than Griner, he had already served 4 years. She only served 10 months before getting released.

l would have thought for the infamous, Viktor Bout, it would have been no problem.

Don’t say you support American’s, you support politics and swing whatever way the wind takes the left American’s.

This move was all about the election, nothing more.
