The fact that the US and Russia have started to speak directly does not mean that they have reached an agreement, the former minister noted.

US President Donald Trump has fulfilled Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s dream of solving problems directly with the US without the involvement of other countries, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

“Trump has fulfilled Putin’s dream – he always sought to solve problems directly with the US, without the Europeans or anyone else. In his opinion, this is also recognition of the equality and greatness of Moscow. But Trump’s goal is not Putin’s greatness, but his own greatness, and where it is necessary to put pressure on Putin for this, he will put pressure,” Kuleba wrote on Instagram .

In his opinion, the fact that the US and Russia have started to speak directly does not mean that they have reached an agreement.

“This already happened during Trump’s first term. Putin can still greatly disappoint Trump. We are only at the beginning of a process in which there is a lot of information noise, but no results. Everything is still ahead,” the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes.

Kuleba noted that a real indicator that Putin is making a deal with Trump will be a reduction in the intensity of the offensive and missile and drone attacks:

“Everything else is just talk. But even this will not mean the end of the war is approaching, because Putin has not removed the main goal from the agenda – the destruction of Ukraine.”

In addition, Kuleba is convinced that Europe has finally realized that the US has abandoned it. In his opinion, this is good for both Europe and Ukraine.

“But it could get bogged down in discussions about what to do about it. That would be bad for it and for Ukraine. If there are no solutions, war will come to the cities of EU countries, and America will not come to the rescue,” he explained.

The former minister noted that it will be difficult for Ukraine. According to him, “the corridor of opportunities was narrow, and is becoming even narrower.” However, Ukraine still has resources for the fight. He believes that all efforts should be directed at strengthening internal strength, promoting the Ukrainian narrative in the world and “slowing down Trump’s cavalry attack”:

“In the coming weeks, don’t look for light in the news. Look for it in your loved ones and what you can do for them and for the Ukrainian defense forces. And remember that in the end, everything will be fine, and if it’s not fine yet, it’s not the end yet.”

He also called on everyone not to deceive themselves with the topic of sending an international contingent to Ukraine.

“The fact that European leaders have begun to cautiously speak out loud about sending their troops to Ukraine, and diplomats are working on possible formats, is good, but these are not combat units to fight on our side, and not full-fledged peacekeepers who will prevent full-fledged attacks,” Dmytro Kuleba stated.
