Trump cannot be denied. First conditions for ceasefire may be agreed in Alaska – Reuters

US leaders Donald Trump and russian vladimir putin will hold talks in Alaska today, during which they may discuss and agree on the first conditions for a possible ceasefire in Ukraine – without the direct participation of the Ukrainian side.

This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.

The meeting will take place at a former Cold War air base and will be the first personal talks between Trump and putin after the current US President returned to the White House.

A source close to the Kremlin noted that the parties have probably already managed to find some points of contact in advance. “It seems that some conditions will be agreed, since Trump cannot be denied, and we do not have the opportunity to refuse (due to the pressure of sanctions),” the agency’s interlocutor said on condition of anonymity.

The main topic of the talks will be the possibility of a ceasefire and the prospects for ending the war between russia and Ukraine.

Recall that Trump threatened russia with serious consequences in the event of failure of negotiations with putin.

Meanwhile, Trump plans to announce a package of economic incentives during a personal meeting with russian leader vladimir putin, which will take place on August 15. Among them are providing russia with access to Alaska’s natural resources, partial lifting of sanctions on the russian aviation industry, as well as the possibility of gaining control over rare earth minerals in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories in exchange for ending the war against Ukraine.

And the White House has released the schedule of the Trump-putin summit in Anchorage.
