The Kremlin emphasized that “there is no understanding yet of the format of a possible negotiation process.”

US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin have agreed to immediately instruct their aides to organize a meeting between the two leaders, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov reported, RIA Novosti reports .

As for Russia, Peskov noted that “preparations for the formation of a negotiating group for dialogue with the United States have already begun.” He also emphasized that Trump’s invitation to Moscow does not mean that he will arrive on May 9, Victory Day.

As for whether China will be involved in future negotiations, “it is too early to talk about the configuration of the parties,” Putin’s press secretary said, adding that “Moscow values its relations with China.”

He noted that “there is no understanding yet of the format of a possible negotiation process,” and stressed that it is “premature to talk” about Europe’s participation in it.

According to Peskov, Trump and Putin did not raise the issue of “recognition of Crimea and four new regions of Russia” during their telephone conversation.

The Kremlin spokesman concluded that the conversation was “important because the leaders of Russia and the United States have not spoken for several years.”
