If the aggressor country of russia shows reciprocity in the issue of the ceasefire, the introduction of which was announced the day before by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, it can be extended and give hope for the establishment of a lasting peace.
This was stated by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, on Tuesday, May 5, in his official Telegram channel.
According to him, the ceasefire announced by the Ukrainian leader testifies to a genuine desire for peace on the part of Ukraine, since Kyiv does not tie it to any dates, but introduces it for the sake of preserving human life.
“If the ceasefire announced by the President is mutual, we will extend it. And this will give us, albeit a small, but hope for the establishment of a lasting peace. With this step, the President of Ukraine has proven to the whole world his commitment to peace,” Budanov wrote.
The head of the President’s Office added that the next step is up to russia. He also asked himself whether Moscow is ready to prove that human life has at least some value for it.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier today, May 5, President Zelenskyy called the night strikes by the army on Ukraine by russia, which the day before had asked for a ceasefire to hold a propaganda holiday, absolute cynicism.
As a reminder, yesterday, May 4, the aggressor country unilaterally announced a ceasefire, which will be in effect on May 8 and 9.
