Acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yevheniy Khmara said that Ukraine will continue to increase technological and strike pressure on Russia. Together with the new Commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapaty, they have already agreed on a common vision for the development of the Defense Forces and the first steps to increase their effectiveness.
Yevhenii Khmara reported this following a conversation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty.
Khmara outlined the priorities of working with the new Commander-in-Chief
“Ukraine will continue to exert shock and technological pressure on Russia by all means. I discussed this with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty,” he wrote on social media.
According to the acting Minister of Defense, during their first conversation with Mykhailo Drapaty, they agreed to openly discuss all issues and resolve possible disagreements exclusively in the interests of the Ukrainian military.
Khmara noted that he was confident in the new commander-in-chief, whose candidacy he had the honor of nominating for this position the day before.
“We agreed to be honest with each other, to resolve all disagreements in the interests of Ukrainian soldiers. Together we will be able to fulfill the president’s instructions and ensure the conditions for maximum efficiency of our Defense Forces. The brigade and corps commanders voiced specific challenges facing the Defense Forces today,” Khmara noted.
Ukraine will intensify strikes on Russian military targets
According to Khmara, the primary tasks will be to support the front, strengthen international assistance, and build capabilities to transfer combat operations to the territory of the aggressor state.
“Our first steps are to support the front, strengthen support for partners, and maximally transfer the war to the aggressor’s territory,” he said.
To implement these tasks, the Ministry of Defense plans to provide combat units with stable and flexible access to modern weapons, including long-range ones, as well as develop the latest technologies and asymmetric solutions.
Betting on technological advantage
Khmara emphasized that the main goal remains to ensure the technological advantage of the Ukrainian army over the Russian troops and to maximize the preservation of the lives of Ukrainian defenders.
According to him, Ukraine should scale up those solutions that have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield.
“The goal remains unchanged – the technological advantage of our army over the Russian enemy and the maximum preservation of people’s lives through technological changes. We must scale up what is already effective: deep strike and middle strike, NRK and other solutions that save the lives of soldiers and more effectively destroy the enemy,” emphasized the acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
Working on a strategy to end the war
Separately, Khmara reported that he and the Commander-in-Chief discussed the long-term vision for the development of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to him, they have a common position on the further development of the Ukrainian army, which was supported by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Work is currently underway on a strategy that should define practical steps to end the war on Ukraine’s terms and force Russia to make a long-term peace.
“We are working on a strategy – practical steps on how to end the war on Ukraine’s terms and force Russia to make a long-term peace. Our goal is a strong Ukraine,” the head of the Ministry of Defense concluded.
As OBOZ.UA reported, on July 22, Mykhailo Drapaty officially began performing the duties of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a corresponding decree. There were also personnel changes in the command. The Commander-in-Chief outlined the priorities of his work and spoke about the tasks set before him by the head of state.
