❗️ “Today #Georgia tomorrow #Ukraine .” #Poland’s President Lech Kaczyński warned in 2008.
He was in Georgia at the time, which Russia had just invaded, and continues to occupy 20% of today.
“Today Georgia, tomorrow Ukraine, the Baltic States the day after tomorrow, and then perhaps the time will come for my country, Poland!” he argued.
🙄 But Kaczyński was told he was “stuck in a Cold War mentality” and ignored.
Two years later, he would perish in an “accident” in Smolensk, russia
☝️ Poland was perceived as warmongering at the time, while the words seem prophetic today.
Eastern Europeans speak from centuries of experience with russia as a neighbor, occupier, invader. Yet Western powers were and sometimes still are naive, romantic or plainly under Russian influence.
⌛️ The longer time goes on, the more I realize the Cold War never ended, it just hit and went underground for a little while.
The USA and Europe should’ve never taken their eyes off their Cold War enemies and assumed that they could reform. They could not, they just got sneakier.
🚨 People don’t understand how imperialism is such a huge part of the Russian mentality.
Western European states gave it up a long time ago. Moscow never did.
And because of it, war is raging in #Europe once again.

All this babbling about Putin using nukes is a complete nonsense, whoever does that. We should stop paying attention or doing that, because babbling about it only helps Putin. It is all bluffs!
Putin is a SC0UΝDRΣL, but he is quite pragmatic. He knows that we overwhelmingly overpower him militarily & economically. He knows that we are better protected from him than he is from us. He knows that he cannot win a local nuclear conflict & that nobody can win a global one.
He only rattles his ‘nuclear saber’, because we are reacting to it, and in particular our ‘chicken politicians’ do, and even invent ‘red lines’ on their own, which Putin quickly confirms. He only does that because he has no leverage on us and he is getting results by bluffing.
The only reasonable response to him is to disregard his nuclear bluffs, and handle him firmly the way he deserves. Of course, we need to protect ourselves the best we can, but the no-fly zone, & whatever else is necessary must be enforced without any delay.
1. This is why Putin must be defeated in Ukraine. 2. This is the only way to prevent the third world war that he will start (continue?) later, unless he is defeated now.
3. Even if there were doubts about the above (and there are none), the risk of ignoring this concern would be unacceptable. The only right action is the defeat of Putin in the process of defending Ukraine. “Political” concerns about a possible nuclear escalation have unreasonably paralyzed the West for too long.
4. It is time for a no-fly zone over Ukraine and its perimeter NOW!
5. The above unreasonable concerns have ceded the initiative to Putin, which is unacceptable in today’s world, both for the security of Europe and for the long-term global repercussions.
6. Putin’s defeat would give the enslaved nations of the current colonial empire a respite. They could decide their future for many of them for the first time in over 100 years. This process may take time.

That said, invading Kursk, russia is totally legit under international wartime #law – since russia invaded Ukraine first, starting this war. ⚖️
Criticizing Ukraine for invading russia is like criticizing the Allied Forces for invading Germany during WW2.
Victory for Ukraine means international law and the rules based world order prevails ❗️
Stalemate or defeat means the downfall of international law
