For Prince Andrew, it has been another miserable week. Still, he can at least try to console himself with one small piece of good news.
He is no longer the world’s least self-aware interviewee.
Yes, he may have told Emily Maitlis in 2019 that his problem is he’s “too honourable”, but now, incredibly, someone has given an interview that’s even more deluded. Step forward, Karine Jean-Pierre.
The latest issue of The New Yorker features a Q&A with Jean-Pierre about her time as Joe Biden’s White House press secretary – and it’s absolutely mind-boggling. Because it so perfectly, if unwittingly, sums up why the Democrats lost.
There’s the farcical refusal to acknowledge what was obviously wrong with Biden (“I did not see anything that would’ve given me concern”); the relentless obsession with identity politics (“As a black woman who is part of the LGBTQ community…”); and the insufferable combination of self-regard and self-pity (“There are many black women who feel this. We are the backbone of the party. We are on the front lines, and when it comes time to elevate us, or hear us, acknowledge our voice, we are largely ignored”).
Most extraordinary of all, though, is that Jean-Pierre has now quit the Democrats because she thinks they’re not woke enough. Or, in her words, “I do not feel seen in the party because I think they’re throwing the LGBTQ community under the bus. They’re not fighting enough for migrants.”
What on earth can you say? Other than that, as with pretty much everything else, she’s wrong – because the Dems actually remain as out of touch as ever.
Just the other day, Gavin Newsom, the Democrat governor of California, claimed: “All this anti-woke stuff is just anti-black.”
Then Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the millennial Left’s favourite Dem congressperson, publicly ridiculed a female swimmer for daring to suggest that trans women – i.e. males – should be barred from women’s races (“Maybe if you channelled all this anger into swimming faster you wouldn’t have come in fifth”).
Meanwhile, the Dems’ Zohran Mamdani is standing for the New York mayoralty on a pledge to raise taxes in “richer and whiter neighbourhoods”. Yes, he could have just said “richer neighbourhoods”, but for some reason he felt he absolutely had to say “whiter” as well.
Will any of the above be enough to win back Jean-Pierre? I don’t know. But what I do know is that this week a Guardian columnistdeclared Mamdani to be “the future of the Democratic Party”.
If so, the Republicans will hold the White House for decades to come.

It’s funny that women transitioning to men aren’t queueing up to play men’s sports isn’t it?
The Dems have to abandon their ridiculous trans obsessions. Otherwise we might have tovarisch JD VanZkov as president. A fucking nightmare.

Indeed, the Democrats have made many major mistakes, and even worse, refused to learn from them. They share the responsibility over what our once great nation has become; a banana republic.

Riley Gaines is mocked for complaining, “I Left There With No Trophy” and blaming it on a transgender swimmer being in the race. Gaines tied with Lia Thomas for fifth place. If the latter wasn’t in the race, Gaines would still have picked up fifth place and left with no trophy.

It’s quite clear that all the “anti-DEI” stuff the current regime is enacting is anti-Black, anti-woman, and anti-minority.

The ridiculous people and anecdotes outlined in the article suggest that we may end up with another magaputler shithead unless the Dems find a sensible statesman or woman to take them back into the mainstream and away from their obsession with trans toilet facilities.
