As part of the special operation “Justice for Fighters”, SBI officers, with the assistance of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, detained and reported six servicemen on suspicion: the deputy chief of logistics of one of the army corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and five soldiers.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, Censor.NET reports .
What is known
As noted, at the time of the organization of the scheme, the officer was the deputy commander of a military unit in the Zhytomyr region . He was appointed to his new position a few days before the exposure.
The official helped his friend register for military service only on paper. In reality, he continued to run his own business manufacturing office furniture.
Later, four more servicemen were recruited to work at a private production facility. Instead of performing their duties in the unit, they made furniture, received a salary from the entrepreneur, as well as financial support from the state. At this time, their work in the military unit was forced to be performed by other servicemen.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, the scheme has been in effect since mid-2025. According to preliminary data, during the fictitious service, five soldiers were unjustifiably paid almost 1.2 million hryvnia in cash benefits.
What threatens
On August 20, 2026, SBI employees stopped the operation of the scheme. During the searches, official documentation and means of communication were seized.
- Four soldiers were reported on suspicion of evading military service through fraud, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 4 of Article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
- The former deputy commander of the unit is suspected of organizing this crime, and the serviceman-entrepreneur is suspected of aiding and abetting its commission.
The article carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The possible involvement of other servicemen of the unit in similar abuses is also being investigated.

I’m sorry to say, this shit needs to stop. These kind of events blemish the thousands and millions of Ukrainians who are living up to their responsibility and patriotism. I’m saying people like this need to be incarcerated big time and shown as an example this crap will not be tolerated especially while Ukraine is fighting for its future.
