U.S. drops neutrality, joins Ukraine in G7 stance

Historic policy shift: The U.S. has officially moved from neutral mediator to Ukraine’s partner in a G7 declaration, according to French President Emmanuel Macron.

Four key commitments: Washington now backs Ukraine’s territorial integrity, military aid, energy support, and sanctions against Russia alongside European allies.

EU boosts funding: The EU released the first €3.2 billion tranche of a €90 billion loan to support Ukraine’s defense and social resilience.

U.S. abandons mediator role

French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that, for the first time, the United States signed a G7 statement identifying itself as a partner of Kyiv, not a neutral mediator. The declaration commits Washington to supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity, providing military and energy assistance, and enforcing sanctions against Russia. This public alignment with European partners signals a strategic repositioning in U.S. foreign policy toward the war. RBC Ukraine + 2

“Regarding Ukraine, the United States has, for the first time, approved a text stating that it is no longer a neutral mediator, but stands with us on the issue of supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity, providing military assistance, energy support, and sanctions against Russia.”

Emmanuel Macron, French President

European and U.S. positions converge

Macron said the G7 summit in Évian achieved significant convergence between the U.S. and European leaders on Ukraine policy. This included agreement on sanctions, energy support, and military assistance, as well as broader coordination on Middle East and global supply chain issues. The alignment suggests a more unified Western front in dealing with Russia’s actions and other geopolitical challenges. The New Voice of Ukraine + 1

EU delivers major financial aid

The European Union disbursed €3.2 billion to Ukraine as the first tranche of a €90 billion macro-financial loan package, intended for defense and social resilience. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the aid comes with conditions, including anti-corruption reforms and a preference for purchasing European-made defense products. The loan is part of broader EU support totaling about €200 billion since Russia’s full-scale invasion. UPI News + 1

Long-term implications for global stability

The U.S. policy shift could lead to several scenarios: a strengthened Western deterrence posture that pressures Russia into negotiations, an escalation of hostilities if Moscow perceives the move as provocation, or a precedent for deeper transatlantic defense integration. The decision ties U.S. credibility to Ukraine’s outcomes, influencing future governance in Kyiv and the balance of power in Europe. It also signals to other global actors that Washington is willing to forgo mediator status in favor of direct alliance commitments. RBC Ukraine + 2

In brief: French President Emmanuel Macron announced Thursday that Washington has, for the first time, approved language stating it is no longer a neutral mediator in Russia’s war against Ukraine – instead, it is now a partner of Kyiv. Macron added that Europe acts as a supporting party, while Donald Trump agrees Moscow shows no real will to negotiate.

🔴 BREAKING: US President Donald J. Trump’s Administration, for the first time, approved language stating it is no longer a neutral mediator in Russia’s war against Ukraine – instead, it is now a partner of Kyiv.

This is a grand step in the right direction.

    My take,
Trump is a fair weather fan — this is a big step in the proper direction for Ukraine, Europe, Americans, Democracy and Humanity.

We know that trump likes “winners”.
Trump openly mocks what he considers “losers”.

This action has solidified in writing that the US Administration has opined that Ukraine is indeed the winner and that Russia is suffering a loss.

Essentially Trump is telling Putin to give up — that Putin’s imperialist ambitions are unattainable, they cannot win, and it is time to leave Ukraine.

This is devastating news to the Kremlin.

Putin’s worth is based upon constant propaganda to his citizenry that Russia is strong and that the invasion of Ukraine is worthwhile.

This action in writing by the Trump Administration is a huge hit to the gut to the Russian propaganda war machine.

There is no ignoring this historic writing.
The United States has written that it stands with Ukraine — and for this I am deeply grateful.

🔴 In my opinion this action,

    1. Confirms the allied bond between Ukraine and the United States that has been weathered for nearly two years.

    2. Confirms a refreshed understanding of the Budapest Memorandum signed 1996.
I see this writing today as a step towards repairing the contacted for obligations promised by the US President in 1996 and virtually ignored over the past few years.

Under Budapest Memorandum Ukraine gave up a trillion dollar nuclear arsenal, rendering itself vulnerable, in return for promised ongoing aid by the United States in the event of any future attack by Russia.
That attack happened four years ago and the United States has failed in its obligations since.

It is not just Donald J. Trump who failed in upholding Budapest Memorandum — it started with Obama who blundered the invasion of Crimea. Then Biden who was weak on Putin, though to his credit he did provide every dollar of financial aid that Congress allowed.

Donald Trump has exacerbated the failings of the prior administrations. Trump took away every penny in financial aid to Ukraine in 2025 and virtually removed all military help.

    3. This action greenlights Ukrainian President Zelenskyy in his efforts to fulfill deep strikes within Russia.

🔴 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine will ramp up attacks on Russia in an operation “aimed at compelling it to end the war.”

This writing introduced into history today confirms Ukraine as an allied partner to the United States and will most certainly deflate the Kremlin Propaganda war crimes machine — which will have great impact in way of saving lives.

    Amen.

    The end is near.

  2. It’s good if true, but this goes to show you what an ignorant and childish policy-maker we have in the White House.

The myth of Vladimir Putin as a geopolitical mastermind is officially dead.

His reckless war of choice in Ukraine has revealed a horrible strategist who mistook the weakness of his enemies for his own strength.

For nearly twenty years, the Russian dictator enjoyed a series of foreign policy ”wins” that made him look like a sort of strategic genius. From a Russian perspective, his aggressive moves seemed calculated and bold, but they only succeeded because Western leaders preferred appeasement over confrontation. Putin simply went further and broke more rules than anyone else was willing to tolerate at the time.

That dynamic changed completely when he launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Rather than collapsing in days, Ukraine stood its ground and exposed the profound incompetence of the Russian military command. Putin’s complete lack of foresight has trapped his country in a brutal war of attrition that he cannot easily win or escape.

The long-term consequences for Russia are devastating. He has systematically destroyed his nation’s future, isolated its economy, and turned it into a dependent junior partner to China.

Watching a supposedly smart but evil leader dismantle his own empire through pure arrogance is nothing short of pathetic. Putin is no strategic mastermind.

      • “…his aggressive moves seemed calculated and bold, but they only succeeded because Western leaders preferred appeasement over confrontation.”

Isn’t this what we’ve been saying all along? Putler is not and never was a genius. His opponents were bigger fools than he and gutless cowards to boot. That’s all.

  3. “The reader can judge the validity or otherwise”

I’ve been looking for news on this; so far, all I’ve seen is Macron’s statement.

I’d like to see the exact text of the “approved language”, know who signed off on it, and know if it was agreed to by trumpkov.

    • It’s a torrent of stories all generated by Macron, the guy who said he would send troops “if Ukraine was loosing land.”
Also the man who runs an economy of similar size to the U.K. but only sends military aid that is half the value of that of the U.K.
On the plus side, he has sent about 12 Mirages, with apparently 100 to come. But they have to be paid for
      ….
