According to Caroline Levitt, the issue of Kyiv’s territorial concessions was discussed between the United States and Ukraine.

The White House says the US and Russia are “ten yards” away from achieving peace in Ukraine and that goal has never been closer.

White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said US President Donald Trump is prepared to use “leverage” on Russia if an upcoming talk with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Ukraine does not live up to expectations.

“The president has already spoken about this, and of course he is ready to do it if necessary. I would not get ahead of the president in making such a serious decision. The US will publish the results of the upcoming conversation between Trump and Putin immediately after it is completed,” she said.

According to her, the issue of Kiev’s territorial concessions was discussed by the United States and Ukraine. She also said that the fate of the Zaporizhzhya NPP would be discussed during Trump’s telephone conversation with Putin.

Levitt expressed confidence that it was the previous administration of Joe Biden that caused the war in Ukraine to start:

“And as President Trump often says, this war would never have started if he were still in office. It only started because of the incompetence and weakness of the previous administration. And President Trump is very proud of the progress that he and his team have made in such a short time. And we hope that tomorrow that progress continues.” 

She said that the US President and his entire national security team interacted directly with President Zelensky and the Ukrainian team.

“This was part of the discussion between the president’s team and the Ukrainians. As for where these lines will be drawn, or any specifics, I am not going to discuss that from this podium. It would be unwise for me to pre-empt the president’s conversation with President Putin tomorrow,” the press secretary added.
