The US is in a rush to “sell” Ukraine: Trump’s former adviser named his motive

Bolton believes Trump is interested solely in short-term results, not long-term consequences.

The US administration’s haste and inconsistency in its attempts to end the war in Ukraine demonstrates Trump’s attempt to secure a peace agreement at any cost and with any delayed consequences. The key is the opportunity to declare himself a peacemaker here and now. John Bolton, former US National Security Advisor during Trump’s first term, writes about this in an opinion piece for The Telegraph .

Who disrupted the Tomahawk missile shipments to Ukraine?

Commenting on Trump’s “peacekeeping,” Bolton casts the first stone at the current US presidential envoy, Steve Witkoff. The recent leak of his conversation with the Russians exposes, according to Bolton, a “conspiracy” against Ukraine.

Bolton notes that neither the Kremlin nor the White House denies the authenticity of the transcript of Whitcoff’s conversation with Putin aide Yuri Ushakov. And this transcript indicates that it was Whitcoff who provoked the phone call between Putin and Trump in mid-October, which derailed the nearly agreed-upon decision to begin supplying Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv, Bolton says.

“This isn’t a typical ‘honest broker.’ This is simply pro-Russian activity,” notes the former Trump adviser.

Chaos and inconsistency

Bolton said the Tomahawk story and then Wittkoff’s “peace plan” demonstrate how “typically Trumpian” US foreign policy is today.

“There is no coherent national security strategy, from either the American or Ukrainian perspective; negotiations are conducted chaotically and asymmetrically, without regard for the facts on the ground; key issues remain unclear or unresolved; self-defeating deadlines and, like used-car salesmen, endless happy talk of an inevitable deal,” Bolton describes.

Bolton calls further negotiations with the Ukrainians in Geneva, with the participation of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, “at best, only partially successful” an attempt to restore balance.

Chasing a quick deal

A former Trump adviser is convinced that the current US president isn’t interested in how fair or even how durable the peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia will be. Trump is only interested in the fact that it’s concluded: the sooner, the better.

This is precisely how Bolton explains the White House’s attempts to blackmail Zelensky with a “take it or leave it” offer.

“Trump has no significant political red lines. His real goal is the Nobel Peace Prize. He may be concerned that the Nobel Committee’s rules require him to be nominated for the [peace] agreement for Ukraine by January 31, hence the rush,” Bolton said.

A former Trump adviser notes that the current occupant of the White House is concerned only with the present moment, not the distant future. In other words, Trump isn’t interested in what will happen to Ukraine in three years, when he’s no longer president of the United States.

  1. Let’s see how he gets his peace prize by attacking Venezuela. I doubt the Nobel peace prize is the reason for the rush. The reason is money. The longer this war goes on, the more that mafia land is down the sewer. Everything is collapsing in a hurry, even TACO must be able to see that no money can be made out of a bankrupt country.

If I was Ukraine I would drag this war on just out of spite. If this war is not ended by January, he won’t be able to be nominated next year.

  2. “Bolton believes Trump is interested solely in short-term results, not long-term consequences.”

Remember, folks, Taco is the same prick that bankrupted 6 companies and even a casino. How can you go bankrupt with a casino? Trump can!
