The United States in the framework of new sanctions against Russia does not rule out the possibility of a full embargo on trade with Russia.
This was reported by CNBC with reference to US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
For example, Adeymo said in an interview with the channel that the United States “is still considering a full trade embargo and blocking Russia’s access to international waterways.”
The deputy finance minister said that the United States was discussing a ban on imports of nickel, uranium and titanium from Russia, as well as a ban on “cryptocurrencies of Russian structures.”
Earlier, it was reported that the EU, as part of a new package of sanctions against Russia, is considering lifting the status of the most favored nation for Russia, measures against Russia’s elite, restrictions on access to cryptocurrencies, and other restrictions.
Meanwhile, the Financial Times noted that sanctions are being considered against state-owned enterprises in Russia that have not yet been blacklisted – for example, in the field of aviation and shipbuilding. According to two diplomatic sources of the newspaper, options for banning the import of iron and steel products from Russia, a ban on new investments in Russia’s energy sector and the export of luxury goods to Russia are being studied.
Earlier it was reported that the European Union intends to impose new sanctions against Russia’s largest oil companies Rosneft, Transneft and Gazprom Neft, but will continue to buy oil from them.
