“The Russian prisoner of war admitted his guilt, but refused to recognize the civil claims of the victims. The court approved the procedure for examining the evidence and began a direct examination of the case – the first witness has already been questioned,” the report says.

As previously reported, the 36-year-old defendant with the call sign “Altai” held the position of commander of the grenade launcher detachment of the motorized rifle company of the 82nd motorized rifle regiment of the 69th motorized rifle division of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and participated in the repeated invasion of the territory of the Kharkiv region in 2024. Together with other occupiers, he occupied the territory of the Vovchansky aggregate plant.

Under his actual leadership and on the orders of the senior command, three murders of Ukrainian prisoners of war were carried out .

The prosecutor will insist in court on the imposition of the harshest punishment – life imprisonment.
