The Scariest Photo in My Gallery…
In the evening, I learned about a seriously wounded man who couldn’t be carried away. He had been lying there for a long time, waiting for help, while an enemy drone hovered above him, watching for an evacuation team. But the company commander seized the moment and risked his life to go get him. And they did it – they brought him to the nearest shelter.
Late at night, I went there, hoping I could still help. Several hours of struggle, five or six failed attempts to insert an IV – no more veins left… One last time, by some miracle, I found a vein. We started injecting solutions, his blood pressure rose, a few more injections, and finally – we exhaled. He was stable.
The evac team arrived, we loaded him into the vehicle, and I said: “That’s it, boy, hold on. It’s over now. The doctors are waiting for you. Just a little longer, and everything will be fine.”
They drove away. I sat down, and at that very moment, my combat medic took this photo. A second later, we heard a powerful explosion. Then-silence. Our evacuation team never made contact again. Russians were waiting for them.
Everyone was killed.
When I joined the army, many people asked me: “Are you going to avenge your husband? Do you want blood?” And I always answered: “I’m not here to kill. I’m here to save lives – so that no one else, like my husband, is left without medical care on the battlefield.”
They also asked if I would treat prisoners. My answer was always yes. It was my duty.
Not anymore.
I don’t want to save anymore. I want to kill. And I want to see them die. I want to see their mothers and wives screaming over their graves.
I will not help any prisoner.
I don’t care about your humanity, your rules of war, your conventions.
Damn you, russians.
You, your children, and your grandchildren – for all the grief you have brought to our land.

The Strategic Logic of the War: russia, Ukraine, U.S., Europe, China
Russia’s strategy is, first, to advance gradually along the front by sacrificing an immeasurable number of people; second, to force society to accept any terms of a deal through attacks on infrastructure; third, by intimidating Europe, to compel it to stop supporting Ukraine – or, if that fails, to wait for eurosceptic, anti-Ukrainian populists to come to power; fourth, to keep Trump away from instruments of pressure on russia by promising fantastically lucrative business projects.
Ukraine’s strategy is, first, to liquidate more occupiers than Moscow is capable of mobilizing; second, through long- and medium-range strikes, to knock out logistics, military production, and expensive non-renewable resources (aircraft, air defense systems, etc.); third, through long-range strikes, to cripple oil refining and oil exports, driving the russian economy into deficit; fourth, to push Europe toward more active action; fifth, through constant diplomatic maneuvering, to keep Trump away from instruments of pressure on Ukraine.
The U.S. strategy is to apply pressure on the weaker side (which, in their perception, is Ukraine) and quickly force it into an agreement on the stronger party’s terms – securing for itself the laurels of a peacemaker, the ability to focus on other issues, and a guarantee that russia will not collapse and fall into China’s hands. Additionally, Europe’s unity must be broken so that Europe does not become a center of power.
Europe’s strategy is to buy time for rearmament and the deployment of armed forces, for domestic political and European consolidation, and to wait out Trump.
China’s strategy is to wait for all sides to weaken, for a final rupture between the U.S. and Europe, for the final weakening of russia, and then to obtain the necessary resources, markets, and development platforms without the use of force.
The strategy of everyone else is to fish in troubled waters.

Roman, thank you for this incisive strategic framework. The paradigm of multi-lateral chess playing out simultaneously offers profound clarity on each actor’s trajectory and imperatives. Your analysis crystallizes the nexus between patience, pressure, and geopolitical foresight beautifully. Wishing you and your loved ones continued wisdom and flourishing days ahead.

Probably not politically advisable, but Ukraine could justifiably say, “Since nuclear powers Russia and the US have not kept to the agreements of the Budapest Memorandum, we are considering renouncing our participation in the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.”
Carl Johansen
Very well put. It should be added that Europe and its democratic partners have tremendous economic leverage if they choose to use it.
Joe Traub
I agree with the notion that Russia has promised “fantastically lucrative business projects” to Americans. I put the likelihood at 100%.

Civilian energy infrastructure in Russia has so far not been in the crosshairs. Outages, especially around Moscow, could further weaken Putin’s hold on popular opinion and the govt, I would think.

Denys Shevchuk, a 29-year-old soldier from Chernivtsi, and Milena, a 20-year-old from Kramatorsk, met in a coffee shop where she worked.
In November 2025, Denys sustained severe injuries: he lost both legs, an arm, and an eye, and suffered damage to his internal organs.
This month, the couple married in a Kyiv hospital, where Milena continues to care for her husband around the clock.

I took the photograph.
There is a lot more to the story. People should know that it was difficult to evacuate him from the battlefield and the 12 hour delay and this , combined with improper use of tourniquets due to inadequate training, for such high amputations. I can also tell you that he was transferred from to a better hospital in Kyiv thanks to the insistence and persistence of the the doctors and medics at the frontline stabilation point where he was treated. Fortunately he will next go to Superhumans center in Lviv where he can get the best treatment available in Ukraine.
This is the monobank of Denys’ wife Milena. They need all the help they can get.

This is love. This is humanity. For people such as those of Ukraine it is normal behaviour. Long live Ukraine. 🇺🇦

From Ukraine Breaking News just now :
‼️Reuters: “Putin’s envoy Dmitriev is flying to Miami for talks with Trump’s team
According to the agency, a representative of the Russian dictator will travel to the state of Florida tomorrow, where he is set to hold a series of meetings with members of the Trump administration.
Reuters’ sources noted that the meetings will be of a working nature.”
And this cocksucker will be treated with great courtesy and respect. His quarters will be 5* luxury.
His hosts actually want to do business with the fiends behind all this horror.

Author Valerii Pekar (of “The Strategic Logic of the War…”) has it exactly right.
More’s the pity.
I feel exactly the same way; damned the russians. Damn them for all eternity for being a scourge upon this tortured world. For being scum of the earth, useless, evil, dirty, and deeply depraved.
